I think it clears it up we are not alone with trouble makers, but we don't throw flares into opposing fans end

I'm the child that's lost the argument in all this who's apparently sulking though and now he's insinuating that I'm stupid. He picks his battles badly.

 

He does this every time he's challenged - last time it was Gaston Ramirez and when challenged he spat his dummy so far out he threatened to leave FT, played the abused ITK card then spent hours hovering over a thread looking for attention threatening another dramatic exit.

We was stood close to the bar infront of the screen not far from the entrance and the atmosphere was mental all night!

What exactly do the LCFC stewards do in all this are they there to act as an information point only. Also the reason a lot of people were in the square at the time was for a police escort to the ground I would take it that didn't happen asked one of the police earlier in the day when it would be and all you get was a shrug of the shoulders.

In seville they all hung out on the corner by Oneil's barring the odd one, if I remember right one got a ball full blast in the head, handed tickets out at the hotel, and watched the game, sorry stewarded inside the ground

A better trained, more civilised police force would have arrested the trouble makers rather than assaulting innocent people.

 

There were people fleeing the square being chased down and hit by the police. Angers me that there are people in this thread trying to place some of the blame on the victims.

There definitely wasn't  - I only went to plaza mayor for the escort,  which then didn't materialise!

Last night I was critical of the use of a net in front of our bit. Those sat on the bottom half of the upper tier had an impeded view. What happened tonight in Lyon explains the unfortunate need for the net.

theres a stigma with English fans abroad,

but there's bigger fish out there,

didnt see anything reported on the Seville fans kicking off when over here,

seems to me that us English are marked men

There was plenty of twattish behaviour from our fans yet the same twatty fans went to Bruges, Porto and Copenhagen without trouble (afaik). However in Seville and Madrid there's been trouble, the common denominator being Spanish policing.

I think you have a point here in some ways but I can't get on board with a 'Our antisocial behaviour is better than your antisocial behaviour' argument!

 

I do get what you are saying but we still have 5% of our away support who are right now watching a pitifully weak assed Elijah Wood be a football hooligan and masturbating furiously on the sofa at thought of being a part of something so exciting and yet utterly moronic.

 

And I just can't defend the idiocy. There's no doubt that others are far worse in the world but I don't find comfort in that really.

Just got back. To put things in to perspective, everyone in the plaza was having a good time, singing, drinking in small and large groups dotted around from about 11am. The choice of song is each to their own, the only song,until the 'riot' which may be classed as idiotic was the German bombers song and that was about 30 very pissed young lads singing it once maybe twice at most. 

 

The majority of European fans use smoke bombs and flares inside and outside of grounds home and away and are not attacked by police and that is Both in Spain and in other countries. Prime example atletico fans when their coach came in. So I can't accept that as a valid reason for police closing in. It was just singing whilst holding flares and smoke bombs. It was only when police closed in that people panicked and threw them. 

 

People enjoy themselves in different ways and nobody was doing anything illegal or offensive at any point until police waded in and intimidated people. Unless you were there and part of it you don't really know how intense it was so you can't give a judgement on how people should have reacted. Some people over reacted but when you've drank a lot and it's 30 degrees in a situation like that it's not easy to always think rationally.

 

I'm not saying we don't have idiots in our fanbase, everybody does but I can tell you from being there everyone was having a good time and the locals were loving it, taking pictures and videos and joining in. There was absolutely no need for riot police to be lined up waiting for something little to happen so that they could excercise their powers.

 

Overall was a great trip and there is a lot of over reaction over what happened. Leicester fans sang and had a good time, were pounced upon and reacted by singing about Gibraltar and were then attacked more.

As a City (Man) fan I thought I'd leave this here, my opinions on Spanish Police and their 'heavy handedness' hasn't changed.

 

 

 

Very strange considering none of the three clubs have caused much bother elsewhere
