M0901 Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Huth and Benny absolutely brilliant. Credit to the whole team, only a penalty conceded, which wasn't even a penalty. So proud of the lads. Defended like lions. Edit: No one under 7. How can you rate them below that? Absolute commitment. Benny MOM
botFOX Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Benny and hurt were rocks, Benny just popped huth for motm
Sionnach gorm Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 This new type of champions league matchup rather befuddled me. Referee vs Leicester City : 1-0
ZeGuy Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Can't vote since I only the second half but I have feeling that Benny was MOTM and Mahrez will get the worst score (if Slim doesn't). The ref was a cvnt though.
Sampson Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 9 - Huth, Benalouane, Albrighton 8 - Simpson, Ndidi, Fuchs 7 - Vardy, King, Schmeichel 6 - Mahrez, Drinkwater, Okazaki Shakespeare - 8 (excellent subs) Ref - 1
LinekersApples Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Hard to give Kasper a rating, as I can't remember him making a save or having to take/clear many crosses?? I didn't think i'd be saying that after they hit post early on!
lgfualol Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 9 Benjamin, Huth 8 Simpson, Fuchs 7 everyone else 4 Mahrez, Drinkwater Hard to rate Slim, we didn't go past the half way line when he was on N/A

LCFCSOULBOY Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Shakey completely naive tactically Would not win the league with his decision making and substitutions. Should have thrown another sub on to affect the clock and what was he thinking with King?. Think he should stay but we will not go far with him. Kind of like Pearson. Good man management but lacking technically. Like most English managers I am afraid
Thracian Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Having strongly criticised Benalouane against Everton i'm delighted to say he was Man of the Match for us tonight by a distance. the guy was immense and the "penalty" conceder Albrighton the next in line. Rarely have I seen such contrasting performances in successive days from the same player but Benny was in the right place at the right time so often tonight he's the main reason we're still in the contest. Mind you a part of me would write to EUFA tomorrow and resign from the competition in protest against the fact that we seem distined to be robbed whatever we do and tonight there was absolutely no excuse. Could any refereee have been better placed to see whether Albrighton's foul was in the box or not? Yes, there was a Leicester player close to his line of vision and if he couldn't see properly he has absolutely no right to guess. But as I saw it on television, his eyeline wasn't impended and the margins weren't even close. Lineker makes me sick. Even with all the technology at his disposal he can't jump down off the fence and say it wasn't a penalty. He talks about it being controversial and hints at an error being made but he just won't tell the sodding truth and say the decision was wrong. There could easily have been viewing angles which might have made the decision difficult but this wasn't one of them and, even if it was, "no penalty" should have been the outcome because a referee shouldn't give what he cannot see or be sure of. And he couldn't have been sure of tonight's decision because it didn't happen the way he gave it and the contact was made outside the box. Apart from the nasty taste of it we, the team. and manager Shakespeare were heroes. My only criticism tonight was failing to fully understand our persistence with Mahrez. As far as i recall he made one notably useful contribution all night. The rest of the time he was a liability in that he ran into Atletico-constructed brick walls and gave the ball away for free, never mind cheaply. Credit should go to the Atletico management of course for the way they contained both him and Vardy and no, I didn't expect awonder show from Mahrez in the circumstances, just a helping hand for the cause. Instead he might as well have been awol. Mahrez's most important plus was having to be marked rather than anything he did. Vardy didn't do much either but that was due to his isolation and lack of support more than anything else. Honourable mentions should go to the irrespressible Albrighton especially for the way he responded to being so badly and wrongly judged by the referee, to our defenders generally and to our three midfielders Ndidi, King and Drinkwater during the second half for the way they maintained our discipline and nullified a talented team to the point where they failed to have a shot of consequence on target during the second half and were limited to very few chances as well. It wasn't pretty or adventurous but it was effective and damned impressive as far as it went. What a cauldron of atmosphere we'll have at the King Power for the return. I can't wait.

King has great game awareness, will make a very good manager in a decade or two.

Good man management but lacking technically. Like most English managers I am afraid You should try managing. Especially in tonight's situation. To come away from Madrid with a 1-0 (unfair penalty) defeat against a team that scores for fun at home and has contested so many finals in recent seasons and beaten some of the best opposition in the world is immense. And even more so considering how few chances they were allowed to create in the last hour and that with arguably just nine contributory players given that Vardy was isolated in the company of two doggedly effective minders and Mahrez simply gave the ball away as charitably as Jesus reputedly gave food to the 5000. Lacking technically? Enlighten me by all means. One more Atletico goal would have ended the contest unless you believe in the potential miracle of us scoring three times (or more in the likely event of our also conceding at Leicester) against one of the most accomplished teams in Europe. King - and others who formed our defensive wall - played his part in maintaining our shape, resolution and discipline admirably and the result was close to remarkable.

oadby.fox Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Great performance from the lads tonight - especially from Benny who I thought put on a great display. Having said that I cannot help but feel aggrieved with the final result. Sure, they had a lot of the ball but they didn't create too much with it. Their penalty was maybe not even a foul at all it was that soft, even if it was, it was clearly outside the area. If that was a pen then Marc and Mahrez certainly had a bit to argue about at the other end. Atletico dominated the game but I think they missed a big opportunity tonight. They looked like they were happy with a 1-0. Let me tell you it will be a different game at the King Power, the atmosphere is going to be electric and if we score first, early on then they will have a huge battle on their hands.
UPinCarolina Posted 13 April 2017 Posted 13 April 2017 Benny's cult hero status looms even larger than before.
