Wouldn't want a draft system, and the current share out (if I've understood it correctly) is about right, I.e. That there is a relatively small differential determined by final position in the table, and a further small difference according to frequency of appearance (less keen on this bit). I'd even be in favour of a salary cap. The problem with this is that at the top end it might then be difficult to compete with top European teams in the Champions League as the PL would be relatively less attractive for top players. This in turn would likely cause some sort of breakaway for the top six.

Thats night. Would only give about half an hour between fulltime and MOTD - how's it going to affect that?

AjcW Posted 8 December 2017 Posted 8 December 2017 I have a feeling Amazon will buy the 3 midweek packages where all games can be shown.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 December 2017 Posted 9 December 2017 (edited) It's all proper one upmanship between the big companies. Bar 2015/16 and 2011/12 the Premier League as a product is dire compared to the mid to late noughties where four English teams seemed to reach the Champions League semis every year. The United team of 2008-10 would hammer the current Man City side. The main thing the PL has going for it is that almost every ground is full, it's much easier to sell. For the most part now it is quite a bland league unless you get a hard on over Jurgen Klopp being crap one week and great the next. Edited 9 December 2017 by Miquel The Work Geordie

I would agree with what your saying about comparing previous years with the mid to late naughties, however, I would say this year has been the best in terms of entertainment for a long time. Some absolutely cracking games and this Man City team would give any Premier League team from any year a good game.
Rogstanley Posted 9 December 2017 Posted 9 December 2017 Well I for one have no issue with the idea of a late Saturday game. I think some people like to have a whinge at any sort of change just for the sake of it.

People used to whinge when either Man Utd or Arsenal won it every season. Then Chelsea came along and people whinged because they’d bought success and they said the only way to break through was with money. Now we’ve had four different winners in five seasons, the trophy has changed hands in each of the last nine seasons and we’ve seen Leicester winning it and Spurs breaking into the top-4, yet now people want to whinge because we haven’t done so well in the CL. Just seems like changing the goalposts every time to justify a bit of a whinge. 7

I have no problem with it either anything that gives me another option to avoid Strictly Come Dancing, The X Factor, The Voice, etc is a massive positive. However moving more and more games doesn't sit easy with me. The thing I can't get my head around is i'm led to believe for one reason or another TV companies cannot show live 3pm KO's on a Saturday - When football should be played. Lets remove the reasoning for that rule then it opens up the possibilities of not disrupting the schedule, it opens up posibilities to show every games, either selected games or a red button feature to pick the game you want to watch, e.t.c It might take some fans out of the grounds but that's what they are doing anyway - I doubt (at the moment) i'd ever stop going to home games, away games I pick and choose anyway and TV coverage would be handy for that reason - I'd still go to away games though. I've not been to an away game yet this season, all thanks to games being moved for TV, the games i'd had penciled in were Arsenal, Man Utd, West Ham and Stoke but they were all moved making travel awkward so I couldn't go which is quite frustrating and where people start to 'whinge'. Unless you're driving, getting a lift or going on coach travel any away fan isn't getting home easily from any of these 7.45pm kick offs. Edited 9 December 2017 by Matt
davieG Posted 9 December 2017 Posted 9 December 2017 The more games that are broadcast the more other broadcasters will be involved and the more it will cost to watch and ensure you get to see the games you want. There's no great benefit to fans whilst the current tv structure exists. What we need is all broadcasters that want to must pay to show all the games leaving it to the fans to select their best broadcaster option. Real competition between the broadcasters and more viewing options. 1

They are supposed to ensure that there is a competitive market.

Super_horns Posted 9 December 2017 Posted 9 December 2017 Hughes will be a miss having played well in recent games. Chalobah has been out for a while so used to him not being there. Anyone else isn't such a loss. Probably lose anyway - think we've won twice in about 20 games at Turf Moor! 1
Koke Posted 9 December 2017 Posted 9 December 2017 (edited) Could do with Chelsea hammering West Ham. Chelsea are in good form so I expect a routine win for them. Drinkwater out of the squad with an illness. Edited 9 December 2017 by Koke

AjcW Posted 9 December 2017 Posted 9 December 2017 Masuaku looks a tidy player. Was good against Man City as well

The way we handled his departure/his replacement is the issue I have as I said no bitterness towards Drinkwater at all, I was reasonably happy with the transfer fee we got for him - The fact Silva's price went up due to Chelsea/Us farting about over Drinkwater meant it should had a knock on effect to Drinkwater's price and the fact we failed to get the replacement in in time due to Chelsea/Us farting about over Drinkwater (Or was it just ineptness on our part...blame FIFA all you like, we should have got it done with plenty of time one way or another) are all reason towards me being annoyed with the whole saga. If Chelsea didn't want Drinkwater because we added abit onto the price due to Sporting wanting more for Silva then so be it, no sale. If Chelsea pulled out of the deal because we put a cut off time on the deal in order to get our own deal with Silva sorted then so be it, no sale. The stuff coming out of the club that night was we'd only sell Drinkwater if we got a replacement in, except we sold Drinkwater and failed to get a replacement in that could play - that cost us more than it should have in more ways than one.
