Can't stand the arrogance of big sam critising silva about taking hull down last season. What is it with British managers being arrogant - sam, pardew pulis. They also come out with alot of nonsense. I know mourinho can be a right moaner but the brits are so one dimensional and theyve not won anything. I hope watford finish above everton just to do allarydyce.

Silva was right - better to compare records when he is 63...

Allardyce will easily keep everton up, thats never really been an issue for me.

But the everton fans patience will wear thin if there is no signs of being progressive in style and players. Hes got to demonstrate he can bring a watchable style and progress.

Hes become a keep you up and sod off manager and thats not good enough.

Craig Shakespeare to take charge of Everton's final Europa League game as Allardyce is unavailable due to a pre-arranged medical appointment.

Man City have reached 40 points  - In November!

I was watching the Burnley game tonight - they look so good.  Never seen Eddie Howe looking so bewildered.

I thought the usually so smug Mr Howe was going to cry in the post-match interview - and it was his 40th birthday too.

Saturday evening (19:45bst) games to be introduced as part of a new package from the 2019/2020 season.

It's a joke man. Football was lost years ago it's just for their own needs now. Even the Christmas advert "the greatest show on earth" is an awful line, it's not a show.

But people will still go to games. I will still go to games. And broadcasters continue to get away with it because while people moan they don't actually take any action.

It's a worrying allegory for public life now. Some people in positions of great authority and responsibility are getting away with all sorts because the will is no longer there to hold the powerful to account.

Sorry, wrong meeting.

I just think its not part of our culture.

Games kick off at these times on saturday and sunday nights in italy spain and france but its reflective of the culture.

We want to have a saturday 3pm and nothing else culture which is much better for fans here (i believe)

I think also it's a bit easier because of those three countries, am I right in saying some teams don't travel in vast numbers due to the distances between grounds, except a hardcore group or local games etc (I'm making a sweeping generalisation, sorry) so it's ingrained in culture but also not as much upheaval for as many away fans

I think it's worth noting the package from memory is only around 8 games on the Saturday night. I think more significant in the tender is the fact that all games will be broadcast live on midweek and Bank Holiday rounds, which is good news for those who struggle logistically to get to games... might also be a good toe in the water to see the impact on attendances if all games are available live in the UK

It also mentions that there will only be one bank holiday round in the contract, meaning there might be an extra weekend round in there somewhere.

Interestingly a lot of people have skirted over this very significant point....

All matches in three midweek rounds per season, and one Bank Holiday round per season, will be broadcast live.

That's one step away from every game getting broadcast so expect that in the 2023 deal.

As soon as games move from 3pm sat then there is no argument against live streaming on pay per view.  This will maximuse revenues.  We are going there i think.  But it needs to be worked out with sky and bt...

Pay per view is the thin end of the wedge. Next step will be that only the competing clubs get paid for that match. This will eventually mark the end of what is currently a relatively egalitarian system whereby there are relatively minor differences in payments to clubs, and those differences are mostly determined by finishing position in the table.

Under a scheme where payment is made according to number of viewers, the likes of Man Utd, Pool, Chelsea, etc would get hugely more than everyone else based on a much bigger worldwide audience.

I agree... I am not a fan of it for these reasons... but I think it is just a matter of time coz money talks,

BTW: The recent suggestion of paying more money to the big clubs is crazy - to make the league moire competitive then you could argue that the worse clubs should get more money - on balance an even distribution would work.. so that we don't get a run away top six

Agree it probably is inevitable, but it would mean the PL losing the qualities that differentiate it from other leagues (Spanish, French, etc). As elsewhere in business, greed at the top knows no bounds.

Even the NFL in the land of the survival of the fittest has a relatively equal sharing of incomes and a draft system that favours the less successful teams.

It's weird in the US. Their politics is uber hard core capitalism and their culture is aggressively anti socialism and anti communism but their sports systems are communism on steroids.
