the fox Posted 15 April 2018 Posted 15 April 2018 Oh, I get it, I'm weird because I don't follow the sheep mentality on this forum and don't talk about Pep like he's the one who created football. 1

gurru991 Posted 15 April 2018 Posted 15 April 2018 Man City won it by playing quality football. They are entertaining & fun to watch. Like or dislike Pep doesn't enter into it. The football has been good !!

People on this forum always say "Oh you got something against Pep". I watched the guy's teams since he started with Barca. 10 years! I never said anything about him that I didn't think was true. I acknowledge that he's a great Season coach. He ran with the league at the start of the year (like he did in Germany) but my criticism of him was always valid. He failed to deliver in the CL when he didn't have the best team out there (prime Barca). People mock Jose after he parked the bus many times. They expected him to open the play against pool (like Pep did, and guess what? Pep got slapped). He proved (Jose) that he can win even when he doesn't have the most talented squad. He adjusts and picks his spots. one thing that people say about Greg Popovich and Brad Stevens (the 2 who are considered by many the best coaches in the NBA) is their ability to make adjustments and hide the talents deferential between their teams and their oppositions. A thing that I have yet to see from Pep. Like I said before. He's a fish fighting against the stream. He can only pass when his ability surpasses what's blocking him instead of rolling with the punches. I will always root for the guy who does more with less. What makes you a legend in most sports is not how many people you have beaten, but how many times you came out as the victor against a more talented foe.

I don't think it's a stick to beat Guardiola with that he's only worked with great sides, he got his first coaching gig with Barca B and got them immediately promoted before taking charge of the senior team. What's he supposed to do, take charge of Villa to prove that he's a great manager? His record in the Champion's League post Barca is ok, he probably should have won at leat once but he reached the semis three times with Bayern, winning the Champion's League requires fortune as Chelsea proved when they won it. "What makes you a legend in most sports is not how many people you have beaten, but how many times you came out as the victor against a more talented foe." Well that's not really true, Bristol City beat multiple top flight teams in both cups this season so is Lee Johnson a legend?

Bert Posted 15 April 2018 Posted 15 April 2018 Is it just me or do their celebrations look crap? Like they've just won the charity shield
steveherbe Posted 15 April 2018 Posted 15 April 2018 Who's that Slimani fella playing for Newcastle? Any relation to the one that had the odd game for us? Looks bloody handy, we should sign him.

People use the same "came up short" stick to beat up Spurs but Pep should catch some slack? That's not me. It's not his fault that he coached bigger teams, it's his fault that he failed to deliver time and time again. as a Matter of fact, coaching great teams and not winning the CL makes it worse.
