I've seen about 4 different memes or copy and pastes tonight that have no truth to them whatsoever. I disable my account around election times, it's been rife for a while. Coupled with the fact people sharing aged old shite without checking or 'experts' that never partake in anything political at any other time. Facebook is cesspit at the best of times.

Rincewind Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 Oh dear. Here we go again. Is that in retaliation to the news that Theresa May met Saudi Arabia leaders who are buying weapons From UK then supplying terrorists groups? Corbyn wants to cut of the supply so as to limit their ability to promoye extremism. Which is more effective than waiting until something happens.

Was always going to happen, however I'm pretty clear in my mind that only one of the two leaders is responsible for the current state of our country. She has three terrorist attacks in two months on her count, she has links to Saudi extremists, she has a failing economy, NHS and police service.

Carl the Llama Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 51 minutes ago, MattP said: Sun going hard tomorrow, be interesting to read the story, doesn't sound good. Going off the small bit of article visible it's a story about extremists being present in the crowd at a talk Corbyn gave about Israel/Palestine in a public space (Trafalgar Square). Again it's a case of Corbyn's non-mainstream views about a conflict being equated with a support for terrorism. From what we can tell about the speech in question from another Sun smear article he calls for an end to support for Israel in Gaza and the development of a Palestinian state and makes what appears to be an off-colour remark about not recognising Israel as a state. The two quotes the Sun attribute to him in the linked article about the moment they're now saying he "inspired terror attacks" are: Quote We must now say to the rest of the world, no arms, no money, no recognition and no support for Israel (from the speech itself) and: Quote This is a demonstration by thousands of British people, Muslim and non-Muslim, demanding peace and the establishment of a Palestinian state and withdrawal by Israeli forces (not clear where this is from exactly but it's attributed to Jeremy from the same year regarding the event). He's since clarified that he supports a 2-state solution which by implication is a retraction of the call for no recognition of Israel, everything else he's quoted on there is pretty uncontroversial, there's certainly no terrorist call to arms. So basically it's an incident the Sun hold in reserve for any time they want to make a poor hatchet job on Corbyn, a hatchet job which a few minutes on google will easily clarify the context of... So I fully expect the British public to be in uproar about Jihadi Jeremy tomorrow.
Carl the Llama Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 Meanwhile this is simply going too far!!! I can't find the video in question which is a shame because it looks brilliant Good old Sun.
Rincewind Posted 7 June 2017 Posted 7 June 2017 Corbyn never seems to get het up about these smears. He just dismisses them and goes about what he considers more important. He does not hold any of the tabloids in high regard nor the owners. He has enough respect for the British public for them to recognise it as a load of bollox. I expect there will be some that will post about it on Facebook from people that I know and if I respond I will be called a Muslim (or go and marry one) as I was the other day. Even asked if I went to a Mosque. It is impossible to use logic and reason why the police cannot go Rambo style with guns blazing into Muslim communities however satisfying it would be for some people.

Leaving aside that absurd claim that Theresa May has links to Saudi extremists (which I'm certainis libellous as well), I think we are heading intodangerous territory to blame these attacks on the government. These attacks will happen and will continue whoever is in charge or whatever resources are put forward over the next five years.

You come out and defend May for not having links to Saudi extremists and claim it's libelous, when you've just posted above a Sun article which almost certainly has as little foundation as the May claim. (Which Carl has detailed). The level of hypocrisy is outstanding.

How on earth can that be similar to openly claiming Theresa May has links to Saudi extremists?

Just with the e-mail on the previous page with the disclaimer "Can't be true can it?" The Sun is linking Corbyn giving a speech to thousands of people leading to the inspiring of a terror attack. Is it, on that basis, a stretch for someone to link Teresa May's dealings with the Saudi's to terror attacks?
