Jean Michael Seri

Premier League pair Leicester City and Southampton have both made contact with Nice over impressive midfielder Jean Michael Seri, according to RMC Sport.

The 25-year-old has been an important man for the Allianz Riviera outfit this season and played a role in the south coast club putting forward an unlikely push for the Ligue 1 title.

Seri is one of a host of Nice players that are expected to be in the spotlight this summer, with a host of big European teams circling the club’s prized assets.

Leicester has struggled to cope since selling N’Golo Kante and may well see combustive central midfielder Seri as a player capable of filling the void to some degree.

Southampton continue to impress with their European scouting network, with the south coast club picking a host of excellent players from the continent in recent years.

A major stumbling block for both sides however could well be Seri’s transfer fee, with the report suggesting that the 25-year-old has a release clause in the region of €40 million (£33.5m).

Seri has scored six goals in 29 Ligue 1 outings this season and is an Ivory Coast international.

Seems like he has had 1 decent season and not actually played that many games considering he is 25. Got 1 cap for Ivory Coast

Not seen him play so can't fairly judge, but on paper, doesn't really show anything that shows he will be a step up on Drinkwater, which is what I think we should be aiming for.

I wonder if Mendy will go the other way back to Nice, if any truth in this.

Still waiting to find out if Mendy is any good. Hopefully he'll get over his injury issues, have a good summer prep and it'll be like a new signing.

Not given up on him yet.

Thought he was brilliant on a keyboard.

Hopefully he wont bring his white gloves with him... we are ok for keepers...

You sure he's not a snooker ref?

These pre transfer talk threads are quite frankly amateurish.

You can all GTFO - there's not even a YouTube highlights reel in here yet.

Plastic, the lot of you.

I too rate Mendy but he hasn't of course been able to show his capabilities. I read that Southampton would like to sign Mendy, as Claude Puel managed Mendy at Nice. Interesting that Puel's Southampton are also interested in this Michael Seri chap. Another Nice link.

It seems us and Southampton are keen on looking in the French leagues such as Ligue 1. If Michael Seri came here I'd imagine he'd know Mendy.

Get Keane and/or Sakho in defence think sakho still has a point prove and looks pretty good at palace and think if he gets his head down and gets on with it could be a good buy. As for Keane should of stumped up the cash last summer now with bigger clubs circling for him not sure if he will come.

IF we could knock him down a bit in wages and like I said he knuckles down and performs, and considering what some of the other players are on then why not?

We should of signed him instead of Mendy in the summer.

Can see why we signed Mendy though purely off defensive purposes, despite not playing much I haven't been impressed with him when he has, just doesn't fit our system, we've now got Ndidi who does the job we required from Mendy so tbh there's no need for him. Seri of course played with Mendy in a midfield three, but as stats show he is far more forward thinking and quite frankly we're missing a forward thinking midfielder, Drinkwater can do a job but he just doesn't create enough, Seri has created 50 more chances than Drinky this season.

I hope you're right.

Big yes from me, has helped Nice overachieve this season. Very similar stats to Sigurddson, Seri has been one of the best attacking midfielders in Ligue 1.

I think it was purely Ranieri's connection that brought Mendy here. I guess the club thought they could transform him into a box-to-box midfielder and then he ****ed his ankle, or we were planning to go to 433.

Wouldn't mind this Seri bloke.
