You DO not get to create a successful business like King Power (from nothing) by letting YOUR competitors mug you. The exception to this is, that an employee or Department of your Company are given a free hand and fvck things up before you can stop the disaster happening. We will all have different views on this and we will have to wait and see how this sad story develops and pans out. Will we be clever or get mugged?
Robin JD Popley Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 If that quote price is correct, we've been had, again. Awful negotiation - should have held firm for £40m.

roblcfc84 Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 The fee isn't a massive issue for me - 35m is decent given what we paid for him. With the greatest respect to riyad, as important as he's been there is no doubt he's a moments player - wonderful moments but he's not a 90 minutes player. Kante gave you 90 minutes, whether or not he's technically as good Albrighton gives you 90 minutes. I think those instances of class make us forget that for large parts of last season he was average mixed with flashes of brilliance. He often lost the ball or hung onto it for too long when better options were available. Again, I'm not criticising but I think if he moves it's a big test for him to prove he can do it long term. Gilfi is valued at 40m, he has done it season in and out now for some time, so I don't think the valuation is too far away.

norwichfox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 I'm wondering what the impact on Shakespeare will be, given that he'd said £50million in a video for Mahrez. Maybe he'll think the club has no ambition and start looking for a club that does.....Appleton caretaker manager before 10 games in anyone?
FrankieADZ Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 i wouldnt be so against the deal mentioned(going around) if it included Luacs Perez tbh
Ricey Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Another day and still no reliable sources backing any of this up.

Think you'd be pretty naive to think it isn't happening though. He's far more likely to be elsewhere in August than we are to sign Sigurdsson, Ihenacho and Iborra.

I'd love you to be right but I think we'll definitely sell him for a fee most of us will be disappointed in and the most likely destination is Arsenal. Frankly, I'd rather he go to Barça for 30 than to another Prem club for 35-40 but I think the likelihood is that he'll stay in England. He'd probably be happier in Spain, to be honest, football wise. But Real don't want or need him, Barça probably don't need or want him and not many other clubs can afford him. He's clearly not an Atleti player. He's flat out not going to Italy or Germany, that much is obvious. Bayern and Wolfsburg are probably the only clubs that would pay him 100k+ in the Bundes. Wolfsburg are a step sideways and Bayern aren't interested. There's a recent cash injection in Serie A but they still have lots to do, Inter and Milan have cash but aren't close to CL football. Juve aren't interested and neither are Roma who, if they can't convince Salah to stay, won't hook Mahrez anyway. So that leaves Monaco who can't afford him and PSG who don't seem interested. Nice can't afford him and he's consider that a sideways move at absolute best and I don't see him going to Lyon or Marseilles while they're only in the EL and neither will match his current wages. It leaves us with Arsenal and Chelsea and Arsenal have made a lot more noise. Plus he screams Wenger signing and Arsenal have been warned off Lemar which is why their Mahrez interest will be back.

The only way I can see this happening is if the club has decided that: a) Mahrez’s determination to leave has left such a bad feeling in the dressing room that it would be bad for team morale if he stayed, so he therefore needs to go asap; and b) Arsenal’s offer is the best we’re going to get and it’s better to have the money earlier in the transfer window so that it can be deployed elsewhere. Personally I’m resigned to him leaving, but I really hope we don’t cave in and accept a below-market value fee. Not to Arsenal. That would be deeply painful.

We foOKed up big time, as soon as we lost the first match to Hull, I knew things would be going down hill. They went so bad that by Xmas, ma y were wanting CR and had totally forgotten the title, but saw relegation. At that point, King Slim was signed, after weeks of negotiation, the fee just went up and up to a over inflated fee....why......because we stank of desperation, we were hovering above the zone of relagation, we needed goals because Vardy couldn't score to save his arse...................,does this sound familiar. Except Slimani was bought in August when our stock was high not January.

Countryfox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Headline for an article in todays Leicester Mercury .. "Riyad Mahrez to Arsenal is a done deal ? Really, who has told you that ?" Might happen, may not, they say but .. "All our information is that there is nothing happening any time soon". There you go ... Whole back page is about the Sevilla midfielder Iborra who could be on his way for £12m.

The profit on what we paid for him is irrelevant. That's looking into the past. We have to look out for the best interests of the future of our club in respect of being able to kick on and progress post-Mahrez, so the issue in setting the fee should be "how much will it cost to replace/upgrade him", and not a penny less..
