Guest Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 I've supported Leicester for a long time. Not as long as some but definitely enough to not be a Johnny-come-lately. I've sat in the crappy orange seats of the old filbert family stand and the relatively beautiful carling stand, watched years of mediocrity, watched relegation to the 3rd tier, experienced the disappointments for last minute goals against, play off final refereeing mishaps, that deeney goal, league cup wins, phil gee, antony knockheart, brian carey, josh low, matty fryatt, tony spearing, martin hodge, mark draper, the crown jules, lee philpott, red star's first minute goal at filbert street, a 4-3 win against Wimbledon, Andy Cole falling over through on goal, klinnsman celebrating but lowe curling a beautiful 3rd. Being a Leicester fan has never been easy, frequently hard, and i never thought we'd better the MON years. Ever. Then 2015/16 happened. Kante. Mahrez. Vardy. And a supporting cast all playing at their absolute peak. Kante is the best player I've ever seen for Leicester. But mahrez is the most skillful, beautiful, incredible talent this club has had in all my years watching. Last season may have been difficult but he's always played with that french air of not giving a **** whilst being sublime. The sublime may not have struck as much in the last 12 months but for so many of our supporters to actively wishing away this kind of talent.....i just cannot understand it. We're Leicester. We yo-yo. We hope we might just yo in the future but we've all experienced something we all know might not be repeated. Mahrez is our Cantona. Can do anything but doesn't always look bothered. But you don't swap cantona for alan smith. What did you think you'll get to watch that's better than 10% of mahrez? What, in the while history of our club, tells you that we can even hope to replace the most technically gifted member of our best ever team? Time for the silent majority to come forward and show some love for the guy!

AyewJoking Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 surely when mahrez had to be persuaded to stay another year he should have just demanded a one year contract. with 3 years left to run it looks like he priced himself out of a move despite trying to influence the fee with his efforts last season

Countryfox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 111 pages and we still really haven't got a fookin clue ....

Perez is quality and Campbell has unfulfilled potential. Perez barely got a chance but contributed well when he did, he will be a good pick up for someone I think. Similar to Vardy in the way he plays, good close control and a cracking left rocket shot, scored a few scorchers over the years. So I'm not sure he'd work with Vardy or not although he used to be a number 10. Campbell for a winger is a bit slow and hasn't got hardly any playing time in Portugal, not sure why. He works very hard pressing, a good left shot and passes intelligently. While he played better than Walcott/Chamberlain the year before last I'm not convinced he's a PL level player. I doubt you'll go for either though.

I've got no reason to make this up. Hope the info i got is wrong but i highly doubt it. I'm a big fan of Mahrez.

I have day to day involvement at my job (and we all hear rumours) but i have 0 idea of all management decisions. Even managers dont know all decisions made by other management. This whole ITK crap is hairy balls. We've had 100+ pages of BS and ITK messages. Fack all has happened. Not a hit at you by any means i just call BS on all these so called ITK comments. Heck what business would ever be successful if they had ITK's talking about strategic plans day in day out? We all know mahrez may leave and it doesnt require a ITK to recognize he could be sold when the window opened and before it closes lol. Who pi$$ed in my cornflakes?
GoonerBead Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Hi guys I'm a gooner! I come in peace dont worry I think there's way too much smoke behind this for it to be true for now. I mean I do think we'll go for him but not yet and I don't think it's 'being finalised' like some people are saying. Also have to remember our squad is now 32 man deep after the signings of Lacazette and Kolasinac. We have to get rid of 8 players before even dreaming about getting Mahrez so we have a 25 man squad for next season. On top of that in our current formation will Riyad want to be second fiddle to Alexis and Ozil? He'd no doubt take Ozil' spot on the right but only through injury/tiredness (which happens a lot) I don't know, we do need him but I can't see it happening yet at all. I wouldn't worry about us, only worry if we can't get our hands on a Lemar

wattolcfc Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 I don’t believe we’ve agreed a fee so there is no chance he is at arsenal or that would be tapping up. Nothing to worry about.... yet.

Alexis is staying for at least this season, I'm almost certain he's signed up. We're offering him 300k a week, he and Ozil both signing up. As for Ox I can't tell if it's his agent (who's a complete arse) or Ox himself. We have 14 homegrown players in the squad currently so have the ability to chop 6 of them. My bet for outgoings for us is - Szczesny Gibbs Jenkinson/Debuchy Perez Ospina Akpom Joel Campbell Wilshere/Ox/Walcott I do think 2 of Wilshere/Ox/Theo could leave. The rest I'm 99% sure will leave. Opening up a 25th squad spot for Riyad and hopefully Wilshere out with another CM in.
StanSP Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Oxlade is apparently going to Liverpool and i've seen figures between £20m-30m. Is Welbeck going as well?

RODNEY FERNIO Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 The one I'd like ( when he's fit ) is Santi Cazorla for a couple of seasons. Think he's a magical little player. Maybe knocking on a bit but so was Cambiasso.
Wymsey Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Just wish any decent deal gets done soon. Going to be potentially awkward for both pa.tries if nothing happens.

RODNEY FERNIO Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Rule that one out then ... might not play again at his age

Welbeck or Giroud could easily go but judging by Giroud's comments about staying and giving his all for the duration of his contract I personally can't see him going anywhere. I'd prefer Giroud as a plan B to Lacazette though he's still ridiculously useful. Also in terms of wages it'll be difficult for us to bring Mahrez in before we sell. Kolasinac, Lacazette and new contracts for Ozil and Alexis will bring our wage bill up by £42m a year. We dont have the CL money or extra season ticket money (they reduced the prices because of Europa league) anymore to subsidise for wages, we have other revenue streams but Riyad would no doubt be on 6m a year minimum. It sucks for you guys because I do think this will drag until late July

That was the word this morning but literally about 20 minutes ago he posted up a picture of him in the gym saying back soon. So not sure what's going on with him but we miss him so bad! EDIT: probably just meant to send it to his wife

KFS Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Argh I can't deal with deluded Gooners. This one isn't even that bad as well. Sooner we get done dealing with that wanky club the better.
