RODNEY FERNIO Posted 11 June 2017 Posted 11 June 2017 More like Arsenal saying what's the maximum we can bid for Mahrez without actually getting him ... to show their fans that they are trying. Remember the Suarez fiasco when they activated his release clause of £40 million by offering £40,000,001 .. Barca had a giggle and said we can make a slight improvement on that offer .. how about £75 million ? I'd be amazed if Wenger offers anything close to £50 million for Mahrez.

Any less than that we will be getting our pants pulled down. £25m would be an embarrassment! I mean are the owners looking and saying well he only cost 400k so **** it unless we get 50 million he can rot in the reserves and mope around the club whilst picking up 5 million over the next year but we can afford to pay it. Or come 3 days to the end of the window do you take 25 million knowing it's essentially 30 anyway by not having him on the wage bill and acting as a disruption/distraction around the club as well. Obviously all hypothetical. But i'd take the money eventually. I believe he will end up at arsenal with no cl football come deadline day when all these other offers don't appear. Unless the owners do take a stand and try to prove a point. Or mahrez changes his mindset IF the owners forementioned spending plans pusuade him to give it another shot at european football. But i honestly can't see monaco barca etc stumping up the 50 we want.
st albans fox Posted 11 June 2017 Posted 11 June 2017 He has already covered his backside by saying it isn't a disaster if he has to stay at the club

Show of strength will help us in future deals. £25m is derisory for a player of his ability with years left on his deal that he only signed last year. He was happy enough to sign it so he should honour it if we dont get a satisfactory offer

His Agent should also be prepared to take a very large hit on his commission.
mullet Posted 11 June 2017 Posted 11 June 2017 This phrase has been printed in the mirror about an interview with him If I have to go, I'll go but if I have to stay then I'll stay. I should be leaving but I still don't know where so we'll see."
FoxinNotts Posted 11 June 2017 Posted 11 June 2017 He's shot hinself in the foot I reckon. His performances this season haven't been anywhere near last season. He wants Barca or Chelsea moves. Just hope he doesn't go to Arsenal. Has to be a CL club, I'll be pissed off if not.

Wymsey Posted 11 June 2017 Posted 11 June 2017 Mahrez knows that Vardy (probably) is on bigger wages on him due to the latter being more of an impact in general In recent times. Him stating publically that he wishes to leave is perhaps a point of saying that he wants to be the highest-earner as he doesn't feel valued at the moment?
HankMarvin Posted 11 June 2017 Posted 11 June 2017 His weekly announcements, reek of desperation - he must hate it at the club
MattCan Posted 11 June 2017 Posted 11 June 2017 He makes no weekly announcements. He has made one brief public statement. His last interview had to be given to the journo that crowned him 'best Algerian footballer of the year'. In fact, he tends to shy away from announcements.

Let's face it, he's not going to play anywhere near the levels he has for us previously, with all his previous statements and water under the bridge. Those hoping this will all blow over, and we'll keep him, are going to be upset sadly

"There's a big difference between an offer and speculation, so there is nothing on the table at the moment," Mahrez told Elheddaf Television. "The chairman and I agreed that I would stay another year at the club and that he would let me leave at the end of the season. "I think it would be the right time for me to leave, I have experienced everything at this football club. "I'm still at Leicester City for the time been, I'm still under contract so we'll see what happens next. "If I have to go, I'll go but if I have to stay then I'll stay. I should be leaving but I still don't know where so we'll see." erm didn't he release a press statement 11 days ago also so thats 2 in under 2 weeks, so get your head out of his arse

No weekly statements as you're trying to put it. You just hate him.

You could argue he shouldn't have signed if he wasn't happy to stay and sat on his previous obviously poultry salary in his eyes. It seems both sides were protecting their investment. So the answer lies somewhere in the middle. I don't see at as being mugged off i see it as player power and matter of fact. I don't see what good a player sitting around doing nothing useful for the club helps anyone and next year his value slips again. Rather worry about the incomings and players that want to play for us. Yes ideally 50 million is the minimum but the minute he opened his trap he knew what he was doing. If he wanted to go he should have asked for a clause.
