He was named Algerian player of the year

I suspect there was an interview to be done following thatl and he didn't have much choice

all he did was restate his position - should he just be rude and refuse to answer those questions? I think he is being respectful to an extent by saying if there isn't an acceptable offer then he stays and it isn't a disaster.

its just a mass of contradictions

"I'm still at Leicester City for the time been, I'm still under contract so we'll see what happens next.

"If I have to go, I'll go but if I have to stay then I'll stay. I should be leaving but I still don't know where so we'll see."

if i have to go ill go?

but its your choice

if I have to stay then I'll stay.

followed up by i should be leaving

I think some of you need to take a step back from being gratuitously rude about one of our  PL winning team. He could have pulled a payet last summer but he didn't. He was promised he could leave at the end of this season. He has now chosen to go public - there are lots of reasons for this. Some of you seem to think this is his way of reminding clubs he is available! Seriously!

Anyway - we need this sorting quickly so shakey can plan ahead. Arsenal know this and if they are the only offer in town they will push for an early decision on what is probably a low bid. We can decide if we want to hold out for more.

Had just won the league and voted player of the year, im sure he didn't expect such a poor follow on season. Lets not compare the Payet situation totally different circumstances.

Harder for a player that has just won the league and player of the year to down tools and stay ill want out as opposed to an under performing team

Tbf sylo - this is a mahrez thread !

lol Thanks for pointing that out lol

But whatever we call a thread in here ultimately it's about Leicester City. But some once Mahrez is mentioned make it just about him. The minute you say anything against him out they crawl.

You're destroying the best player you ever had. You don't deserve him. Now spew out your venom: One two Three, Go ...

Tbh mate, if you'd been here as long as most of us you would have seen players as effective as him in their position. Frankie wortho had a left foot to rival riyad - infact I would say it was better. Shilts and banks were word class and so was lineker in what he did - there are others

I love riyad and I've loved watching him do what he does for us - if he doesn't get his move then I'll be delighted to see him still going up and down the right flank for us in September

He must go now otherwise it will cause trouble. Grey or any other winger will be pissed off him still starting above anyone else after he said he doesn't want to be here.

What are you going on about. Have I not said I would thank him for most of his time here. I've said he's been great and yes he had a poor season last year.

But as I've said when he's gone he's gone. But my team will still be with me till the day I die. My team won't be leaving me to join arsenal Chelsea or barca.

The more he talks the more he's hurting his chances of leaving. He should be giving the generic "I'll let my agent sort it out" BS when asked. If you're Arsenal wouldn't you be worried about his attitude in all of this? There are lots of bigger clubs than them and in two years he could pull the same fast one on them. If he'd just stfu after his initial statement that would've been alright. But now he sounds like a baby. "If I have to stay, I'll stay". You're not the one calling the shots, Riyad. It's called a contract.

You must have a crystal ball Wizerud, five minutes after your post, this was posted on their forum :

Is he really worth it ? What guarantee is there that this snake will not turn his back on our club in a year's time

if an offer from a better club comes in.

Tbh I'd like to know a bit more about this 'gentlemans agreement' which Shakey has publicly stated he knows nothing about.   There's nothing wrong with putting in a transfer request but, in the same way he signed a LONG TERM contract to a) up his salary and b) have something to show a prospective new employee and say 'Beat that!', he must understand that IF he is allowed to go it is on our terms.  By saying he is staying long term he stops us looking for an immediate replacement and will now have to wait until we find one or decide we can manage without him.

On a personal level I really don't like some of these comments about joining a 'big' club which leave a nasty taste in the mouth.

He has followed his late father's wishes .. that's an admirable thing actually .. none of anybody's business ... some things stand above and beyond fame and money for those who can grasp ...

I didn't question his motive for choosing. My comment simply stated that had Mahrez played for a decent international team, his value would've been a lot higher. Yes, he is wasted at international level due to the substandard level. What was insulting about that?

He's not even the best player in our current squad.

He's trying to force his way out, it's not pleasant to watch but players have to do it somehow. As long as results in us getting £40 million + then I couldn't give a fcuk.

Bloke sounds desperate, pretty sad really.

Will never forget him and he gave us one more year than kunte.

Exactly this. Don't expect us to lower our valuation

He over performed for just one season as did the rest of the team . For the other seasons he was a good to average premiership standard player and nothing more. If he were truly a great player he would have stood out last season even when we were playing poor ( great players s do that ) he didn't and was part of the overall problem. The so called big clubs are fully aware of that and must have seen how the other teams we played easily nullified him last season. He's not worth a gamble for  £40, million and certainly not with his attitude problem. The sooner he's gone the better.

When a player gets a new contract - the club agrees to pay him his (high) wage) in return for a commitment to pay for the contracted period.  If a player wants to bail out early (reigning on his commitment ) then he should offer to repay the wages...

IMO the only way out of this is fro clubs to put say 5-% of the wages each month in escrow to be paid out at the end of the contract, or when the club sells the player... or when a new contract is signed.  This would stop the Payet/mahrez situations.  IT could also be invested to ensure they have something left and don't piss it up the wall.  Similarly the agents would want to see the player get to he end.

Muzzy insert was far better, more consistent and loyal!

Riyad has shown he's selfish, big ego! And has been found out now at this level!

He he can go wherever he wants for the right price

His excuse was something along the lines of - When the team plays bad he play's bad, when the team plays good he does.

Thing is when the team picked up, he didn't.

I've just tried to find the interview on youtube, no success though, it was an interview he did at the training ground shown in the pre-match of the Man City game.
