u asked a question about form, comparing him and Hazard based on one season is madness.

Hazard performed over multiples seasons

And I asked if you thought Mahrez was capable of reproducing last seasons form for us again? So do you or not?

Personally I think he is capable, and I believe he will again if he stays with us.

If you think he's a one season wonder and we should get rid, then fair enough.

Hope he does, but dont think he will be at Leicester

Thought he did ok apart from the penalty.

It did appear personally that most of his on-pitch nteractions were with Slimani and very rarely with others?

Whatever ever goes on can we just get it done, I can't stand a long drawn out transfer process which takes focus away from us recruiting some quality and getting a good pre-season.

Normally i'd agree but as I keep saying clubs will try and get him on the cheap, we need to stand strong and reject low bids, so if that's the case make it long and drawn out.

For all the people that constantly blow smoke up Mahrez arse and say how good he is on here and say how much we will miss him when he goes,

For the season on whoscored.com he is rated the 115th best player in the league with with a total score of 6.91 from 31 starts and 3 sub appearances

Yeah must be true because the computer says so. You should come work at my place

Most Fans on Arsenal Mania think a fee of around £40 million is a snip for Mahrez.

If we are only going to get £22 million we might as well leave him on the bench if he gets the mards.

If we just let the players go for trifling amounts it sends out the message that we are truly

a middling club like Southampton.

The owners realise we got our pants pulled down with Kante and I am sure they will

be determined for this not to happen again ... they are ambitious  people.

Would Arsenal really be the team for Mahrez. I think he would fit in at PSG. He knows the City, it's his home, his mum, I believe is still there and close enough to come back to England regularly. Same with Chelsea in terms of having a specific spot ready for him to go into. He is far too big for Spurs. I wouldn't mind Mahrez returning to PSG where I think he will thrive. Shame he made a decision on his international future so early in his career he would've thrived in the current France squad as well.

I think he played better after the penalty, even though these things can happen, think there was a touch of guilt at a opportunity  spurned, an I believe we will see a revitalised Riyad in the final 2 games, 2 MOTM performances and another £5- £10 million added from where I see him now, I don't think his decision making is up there with £70 million+ players (man utd were just ripped off with pogba) he's not English so £40 million to another premiership team £32- £35 million non premiership for me.

There's no way Mahrez should be a one season wonder. Everyone suffered a drop in form under Ranieri this season. Some more than others individually, but  collectively we were diabolical at times.

Mahrez has often been contained by pressure of numbers and, for all our organisational brilliance at our best - we've only carrried a modest goalscoring threat this season so the pressure on Mahrez and Vardy to deliver grew greater.

If he joined a club where he was one of many attacking talents, or if we convinced him and justified the mindset of becoming an even more potent attacking force, I'm convinced Mahrez would be a huge and highly effective threat for as long as he remained fit and motivated enough.

Even this season and when he's been fairly indifferent over 90 minutes, Mahrez has so often managed to score a goal, make a goal or play a part in a goal. No matter how many times he's frustrated - or those watching him are frustrated - he comes up with something important. A big part in one of our goals against Manchester City and what should have been a penalty goal as well...the penalty being won by him too.

Basically he's a nightmare to mark because he only needs to escape the defenders once and it costs them.

Whether we can possibly persuade him to remain here is another matter entirely.  Not many of us would resist the chance to play for one of the world's elite clubs if it came along - and we've not reached those heights yet, however hard we've tried and whatever remarkable feats we have attained. I'd never say we'll never be able to keep him but I'd definitely be looking at alternatives.

Because Gray's not the answer yet and might never be. It gives me no pleasure saying that but we'll need the kind of recruiting that will mantain our momentum not see us treading water for another season. We need to be exciting and to keep evolving the style that has made us such dangerous opponents.

Style and our indomitable spirit's the key.

Tied down to a 4yr contract with no release clause. The club has the all the power in any negotiation.

I've no doubt the owners will put a £50m price tag on him to any suitors.

On a separate note. The negative talk from some of our fans about Riyad recently are an absolute embarrassment. He's the most gifted player to ever wear our colours and we're lucky to still have him. You don't realise what you've got til it's gone....

Leicester City haven't received any offers for 'wanted and appreciated' Riyad Mahrez, says Craig Shakespeare

  • Riyad Mahrez has been linked with a move away from Leicester City this summer
  • Former PFA Player of the Year suffered in Leicester's decline after their title win
  • Craig Shakespeare spoke of making his players feel 'wanted' - including Mahrez

Craig Shakespeare wants to show Riyad Mahrez how much Leicester value him but insists he will not 'pander' to anybody as transfer speculation begins to crank up.

Mahrez was PFA Player of the Year in the Foxes' unforgettable Premier League title win last season but, like the team as a whole, has failed to hit the same heights this term.

Nevertheless the Algerian is still likely to be a regular in the gossip columns over the summer and without European football to offer, Leicester may struggle to hang to such an asset.

Shakespeare is still waiting to hear if he will be in charge of the side beyond the end of the campaign but is planning for the future and wants Mahrez to be part of it.

'We don't need to pander to everybody's needs but they need to know they are wanted at a football club and appreciated,' said Shakespeare after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Manchester City.

'Riyad is one of many who, if you ask him, feels appreciated and wanted here, not only by the coaching staff and the owners and the fans but also by the players as well.

'They are under contract with us. Everything else is pure speculation. You don't have a decision to make unless you get an offer, and we haven't had an offer for any one of our players.

'There is always going to be speculation because they are good players.'

Shakespeare revealed that the 26-year-old has viewed his own efforts harshly at times during the Foxes' disappointing title defence, but said those at the club never doubted him.

'You have to support them when they go through these little moments of self doubt,' he explained.

'With Rihyad, he's probably more self-critical than anybody realises. There are moments this season when he's found it difficult to get the form that he showed last season. But he's showed glimpses of it and we have to show that we believe in him.

'He has that belief from us and that will turn.'

This Rihyad lad sounds promising. Get him in.

Clubs can agree deals - yes. Nothing can be registered. Suppose that leave room for manoeuvre but unusual for deals to be renaged on

Thanks. I guess it leaves room for maneuver in case of an outbid since the verbal agreement is not legally binding

TBH, I expect this doesn't happen very often. Otherwise clubs wouldn't know where they stood re getting replacements in or their alternative plans. I imagine once a deal is done it gets followed through (unless it's us playing macArthur off against Esteban)

He's obviously not been at his best this season, but he was still the PFA player of the year last season. In this ridiculous market where Wijnaldum can get relegated with Newcastle and still increase his value, i'd be very disappointed at anything less than £50m. It will no doubt be £40m or lower though.

The amount of shit he gets is ridiculous. You see people hoping he fails when he moves or kidding themselves that Gray is at the same level as him.

Some people wonder about Shakespeare's ability to handle the problems of managing top players but I'd say his response to the Mahrez question was spot on.

It reflected a manager valueing Mahrez enormously but treating him and the situation in the same grounded way he seems to deal with everything else.

He speaks on the subject not in a resentful way - as if no-one should have to deal with speculation - but in what appears to be an entirely honest, sensible and reasonably informative manner.

There's no bullshit or attempt to be clever, just a boss explaining the situation as he sees it and giving an insight into his own viewpoint, which seems entirely sound.

Yes. We've signed players in May before - see Vardy, James, De Laet etc..

If there is anything where Shakey should get credit (besides basically saving the team from relegation and leading them to the CL quarters) then it's his communication. Simple, direct and honest. Really like his press conferences and a refreshing breath after "fight, together, spirit (rinse and repeat)"

Haha I don't know about the "most talented" ever, but agree with your sentiments.
