Collymore Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 Was talking to a Spurs.fan earlier and he mentioned they were rumoured to be interested in our Mahrez. He asked me what I'd value him it at and I thought a minute and said £60m. He agreed almost instantly which made me annoyed I didn't ask for more. I wouldn't want to sell but feel £60m would cussion the blow. Thoughts? Am I selling to cheap or am I driving a hard bargain?
Tuna Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 If Sissoko is worth 35 million Riyad is worth 100 billion.
lcfcben76 Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 I would say £45-50 mil for mahrez in today's market. Purely based on form over this season and last. In-consistency may be key for price
themightyfin Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Funny how now everyone wants stupid money for him When all season so many people here here have been slating him all season.
urban.spaceman Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 I honestly wouldn't take a penny less than £70m. We were ripped off big time for Kante, and we shouldn't let that happen again. Sod it, if Liverpool can get £50m for Sterling you might as well ask for double that!

He had a release clause for 20 million pounds to a champions league club we did well to get 30 million by selling to a side not in it. You will probably say he shouldn't have had a release clause in his contract and you would be right however Kante did not want to come here so we were in a weak negotiating position plus he cost 5 million no one forseen him becoming one of the best players in the world.
lcfcben76 Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Imo i don't care how much he's worth, why sell our best players, do we really need the money with no guarantee of reinvestment or recruitment of players of the same/better quality
volpeazzurro Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Because of this season's form I don't think we'd get above 40m.
themightyfin Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 People saying £70m and the like are kidding themselves. If we do stand by his "Gentleman's Agreement" then I think we would be asking for between €35-40 million Euro. It takes players with a lot more pedigree than Mahrez to command fees in excess of that as much as I love him and think we would miss him greatly. If we did promise him he could go then don't really see the point keeping him if he's set on leaving. Take the money... Wish him luck and move on. Still find it bizarre that people are suggesting stupid money when if you read the threads on foxestalk all season you would think he was worth 10quid the way he's been slated this season. A very special player who we will miss so much and if and when he does leave people will soon realise what a gap he will leave. One of the best I have seen in a City Shirt and we have been lucky to have seen such a player.
Thracian Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Goals and assists guaranteed and likely to be even more effective in a team of stars where it would be harder to double up on him ....£65million and that's damned good value for the buyer considering the market nowadays.
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Sadly those figures are well inflated. This season will have dented his value massively as compared to last. If we got over 35 million I'd be amazed. Then again the market does strange things.
foxfanazer Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Be surprised if we got more than £40m for him to be honest. Unless China comes knocking and he goes for the money but I think playing for a big club is more important to him
Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Min £45 million in today's stupidly inflated market.
lgfualol Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 Wouldnt want less than 45 if we sell to another Prem team. You just know we will sell him for less than we should and then buy someone like Gibson or fat Deeney for a stupid amount.

I'm sure Rudkin goes through the same thing every time he leaves the negotiating table.
Wymsey Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 If it's based on how poor he has been recently, consistently, it would be around £20m if we weren't in the PL so would be acceptable to sell him at around £35m now, still. However, interested teams will still know, even if he's been quite poor for a while that he can be a potent game-changer when both his attitude and desire to help out the team is there. He's potential worth, based on overall should be £60m - considering everything into account, such as his skills, dribbling ability, confusing defenders about which way he'll turn and putting fine crosses in etc. I feel a good reason for his certain poor performances this season is lack of confidence, for whatever reason. We all know when his confidence is there, he can be as deadly as a footballer can be.
Sir Shep Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 £35M because we aren't Liverpool or Man U etc, if he was English then it'd be £80M easily! I just hope we play a bit of hard ball if there's several clubs interested and that he doesn't go to a club like Spurs who probably won't be winning much more than us.

st albans fox Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 the way things are done nowadays, his agent will be negotiating with interested parties and they will put together the deal. it will involve a chunky s/o fee, a big wage (150k/week) and a nice dollop of dosh for the agent for delivering the player to the buying club. And then there is us - the selling club. We will be told what the fee is. in effect, the agent will have been told what budget the buying club have placed on the player for a four year deal. The agent will work out what is left over for the fee. By putting the deal together himself, the agent will have avoided several clubs becoming involved in an 'auction' which would benefit the selling club. This is the way it's done nowadays so that the player and agent benefit rather than the selling club. We then have to start playing hardball to get that raised. If the buying club will not move on their four year budget then the agent has to eek out the extra money by reducing salary and fees accordingly. Clearly that isn't going to end up being much more than five million. we can refuse to sell - as per stones to chelski , but keeping a player that doesn't want to be here is not going to do anyone any good. The owners would not do this with Riyad. I reckon we will do well to get 40m and it's possible it could be 35m. The lower it is, the more likely it is to end up being undisclosed at the time. We will get to find out in the end though. There is a small chance that a second club might come in late to try and hijack any deal with a bigger fee but it's unlikely to succeed as the player will want to go where he has the best deal arranged. sadly this is the reality of modern football where the player and the agent generally hold all the cards.
Guest Danny Clender Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 I'm not so understanding with the logic of rating his value based upon this seasons form, the club was dire from Aug - Feb. Why would other clubs be interested in him if it were based on his overall seasons form? Pogba's form has been patchy all season, does that mean he is currently worth 50 mill? Mahrez is 26, an unbelievable talent with plenty of space left on his contract. We should not sell him at all, keep him just as Shakeh has stated. If it does come to him leaving, 60 mill should be the starting price, surely we learnt a lot with the Kante deal.

Japanfox Posted 13 May 2017 Posted 13 May 2017 IMO just look at the prices we have paid for recent acquisitions. I'd say if he wants to go, then try and get as much as we can. It'll at least cover the lost I'm sure we'll make when we sell Musa. ?
