Swarles Barkley Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 There are rumours circulating on twitter that he has passed away in a tragic accident. Horrible news if true
Babylon Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Rumblings that he collapsed at training and died. All unsubstantiated at the moment from what I can see.
AKCJ Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Perhaps this should be closed until concrete evidence is announced?
HybridFox Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 I remember his goal against Arsenal to make it 4-4 when Newcastle were 4-0 down at one point. What a comeback that was
Finnegan Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 It's being officially reported by credible news sources, it is true. That's awful. Christ he's younger than me.
AjcW Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Someone made a comment on twitter saying how common this is with African footballers. I'm sure everyone goes through regular testing but I wonder if more needs to be done? Tragic regardless.
StanSP Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 wife pregnant and baby due this week. makes it even more tragic

I'm sure I made a similar comment with the last black footballer to die, which couldn't have been more than a couple of months ago. Don't know why it is but they seem a bit susceptible to having dodgy tickers. With how often athletes are tested and examined I'm surprised they can't spot this more often in medicals etc.

leicsmac Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Will always be remembered for capping off one of the greatest Prem matches of all time. As others have said, 30 is no age at all. RIP.

A friend from my school lost her boyfriend last year in an amateur football match. So sad. The news correspondent was going through medical tests as part of the report so I'm sure there are indicators in some cases that I don't doubt footballers are tested for. The average person unfortunately won't be able to go through that process.
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 The truth will out of course, but it makes you wonder if he had some congenital issue with his heart. 30 is so young for a heart attack. RIP Cheick
VLC86 Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Such sad news and this seems to happen far to often to young, fit athletes. Always brings back horrible memories for me personally when i watched this happen on a football pitch while playing 5 a side. A friend made a good point, was he fasting for Ramadan?
