RowlattsFox Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Personally thought now would be a good time to go down a different route but he has earnt a shot. Its a big summer of recruitment and he needs to get it right and adapt our style. Interested to see who he gets in as help.
MrSpaM Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Think that's our dream of getting in Europe down the pan then but at least we'll probably stay up
Cropwellfox Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 There's no certainty in this sport. Could be an inspired appointment just as readily as a huge disaster. His backroom additions to the team will be critical, as will our recruitment policy, but our support for him just as important too. Congratulations Craig, an English manager appointed into the premier league isn't something that happens particularly often.
foxoffderby Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Craig Shakespere signs 3 year deal, Teresa May wins by a landslide Donald Trump to receive an apology from the FBI and all charges dropped. Great day to be a blue.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Good, I'm really happy with this decision. Now I hope the club doesn't pee about with taking ages over selling the players Shakey don't want and signing the ones he does. Im sure this won't be popular with the usual suspects on here, but I'd like to see swift and decisive dealings in the transfer market, not indifference and drawn-out contract negotiations. Lets ship out those we don't want, and get in those we do.
kingfox Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Deserves the chance now we can concentrate on the Summer ahead, which will literally make or break our chances for next season.

Great day to be a blue. Unnecessary crap. Plus, of course, the Democrats are Blue in the USA.
lcfcsnow Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 I can't say I'm comfortable at all with it given how we ended the season, we had a chance to really kick on and get a proper manager in. It seems like a risk not worth taking, unless there really was no other candidates.
An Away Move Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Just look what a journey our owners have been on. They sacked Nigel first time round to get a big name manager in Sven to match their ambition. Now they could have got a big name manager but have rather promoted Nigel's old sidekick from within. I like that, Hope it works out for all parties, including us the loyal fans.
RonnieTodger Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Good stuff. It's a big opportunity, but it's one that he thoroughly deserves.
Ted Maul Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 About time, not sure why this took so long. Now let's crack on with assembling a squad capable of challenging for Europe (or comfortable midtable, at least)

NeilLCFC Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Good news. Knows the club inside out and continue building on the foundations that have been laid over the last couple of years, rather than a new manager coming in and changing everything.
Blodge Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Why are we appointing a manager who has the highest win % for a premier league manager, saved us from relegation, knows the club inside and out, helped us reach the last 8 of the CL; giving it a real go, when we could have appointed a big name manager , or someone like Marco Silva who managed to get Hull relegated? Another terrible decision from the owners. ShakeyOUT....

Monk Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Glad it's 3 years and not a year - a statement of confidence by the club for sure. I have no idea how things will go longer term with him in charge but am hopeful we can press on and finish top half next season.

Just reward as well for saving the club from losing 80m with relegation
