Agree.... if that happens his agent will have got mendy into a worse off situation.... but if course the agent may still be paid comossions.

Mendy.... like slimani.... has an opportunity to  become a top prem player.  To do so he will need to work hard to develop the right skills.... strength... speed ..and mind set.  It will be a challenge.   Or... he can walk way..... what ever he does he will have the rest of his life to reflect on his decision

He must be in the best physical state he's been at since joining us if he's walking.

All joking aside, the lad hasn't had the chance to show us what he's capable of.

Do we know his fitness status?

If he's fully fit, and not getting into the squad for the next one or two games then he's clearly not in Shakespeare's plans and one way or another he will be out of the club in the following weeks.

It's a shame but what can you do. It means the rest of the midfielders must repay the managers faith.

Another very good player whom we haven't seen the best (or anything) of. I watched him many times over in here France and he was class. There's big talk in my home team of Bordeaux that he's coming to Bordeaux, I think it's an error to let him go but we do have a wealth of good midfield talent at the moment so I can understand it. Again we won't recoup the fee, Bordeaux would like a loan with the option to buy. I think we should give them a 1 year loan, let him prove himself and then see how we feel next summer.

Good to get some perspective rather than the usual,he's a sicknote, bin him off brigade.

Shakey's seen enough of him to decide that he's happy for the player to be sold. Get rid IMO based on this. Not sure at his peak (Albeit judged by his best of clips on YouTube) that he's got anything significant to offer at this level. Premier League football is much faster and more physical than French football and Mendy hasn't really got either attribute. So then you look at whether he's got the guile and technique to compensate particularly in tight situations and I'm not sure he has. He certainly isn't gonna get the time on the ball to ping too many quarterback passes.

With Iborra, Drinky and Wilf and James hopefully coming back into contention, he's not needed anymore.

This is all fine, but we are not a charity. If he must go out on loan,  then Bordeaux must stump up his full wedge, or he and is pillock  of an Agent will need to take a pay cut.. If they are all not prepared to do this, then he should stay and prove he can cut it.

We paid very good money for Mendy and I suspect he enjoyed an enormous pay-rise. If he and his agent want to take him back to France, then they must both accept that his/their remuneration must revert back to French Ligue 1 levels, or Bordeaux step in. LCFC should not contemplate subsidising this.. I hope he stays and proved he is a fine player.

correct - he would do better to work on becoming a great prem midfielder.  This is his chance.  If he goes he will have to live with the fact that we walked away form his opportunity...

Not sure where getting a player that we are not using to go on loan, get his wages paid and show his worth for a future sale is charity but perhaps I'm not up with the PDSA way of doing things any longer.

Ok then, let his agent get his way and send Mendy out on loan and we LCFC pick up the tab for poor old Bordeaux. Marvelous business model.. He should put a shift in here and we might use him!

He's getting over a season out with injury and we have about 500 CMs. When is he going to "put a shift in". Have you ever had your own business? Which particular "business model" are you talking about?

So is Matty James, shall we send him to Bordeaux too?  As I said,  if he knuckles down here, I do not doubt for one minute Shakey will give him a chance.  If Bordeaux are not prepared to buy him, then he can get fit in our under 23's.  If you think giving in to his agents demands is sound, then so be it.  This is my opinion and only that.

Yeah perhaps we'll agree to disagree.

for me the master business plan would be to let him play for Bordeaux this season (they are not a rival, they have a good team, good manager and there are 4 or 5 good teams and a lot of weaker teams in Ligue 1 for him to play against - that's better than the U23's) and rebuild the value he's lost. We have far too many CM on the books - which I don't understand when we are so short of RB and CB - Matty James could easily be starting for us long before Christmas.

Ok with that!  I still believe he can do a job for us. Just needs to get fit and be given a chance (here):D

I don't like the criticism of Mendy getting personal. He's not been healthy, through no fault of his own. If he was a basket case or a slacker I could understand - but he's not.

Completely agree with this. I think he looked promising before his injury. Plus, it's not as though he has had one injury, he's had multiple problems in his recovery time - enough to get anyone down.

Is he fit yet or still injured.

Yes.

The thing I don't really understand about Mendy is that he's looking for a move away when he's barely even stepped on the pitch

It's not like we've been purposefully not playing him, he's been injured practically the entire season, surely he should be looking at this season as a fresh start with us rather than somebody else

Whole thing seems like a serious lack of ambition on his part

Firstly, he always looks chubby. Secondly, he has been spotted buying fags in a shop in Wigston last year where he lives/lived... So not great, I would surmise...

He's only scored one goal in his career and therefore I would assume that he's a fan of a lucky strike.
