He only played four games for us before injuring his ankle. It took two operations to fix it & by all accounts is still not match ready. He certainly didn't plan this and I am sure he is very frustrated with the situation. Yes his agent has made some idiot statements but I don't think the player has done too much wrong.

That Leicester aren’t keen on just a loan is understandable if they don’t want to run the risk of having the player return next summer, but to ask for, according Sud Ouest on Wednesday evening, €16m isn’t exactly logical. Bought off the back of a decent season with Nice for around €15.5m, for Leicester to ask for €500k more for Mendy when you take into account what happened last year makes little sense. This, of course, is far too much for a club of Bordeaux’s means, and it seems the Foxes are going to drastically lower their demands if they want to see the back of the defensive midfielder this summer.

This article does have a point, though. Nobody is going to pay €16m for Mendy, so if we want to sell him we will have to drop the asking price.

I think it was the first sentence, saying we were being difficult over Mahrez that really bugged me

Some of the comments I've read re: Mahrez are astonishing, implying that we shouldn't demand decent price for a player that we really want to keep.

Some of the idiot statements have been attributed to the player directly. I would have liked to hear him say how he is going to bust a gut to get back to fitness and repay the faith, time and money the club has invested in him instead, but that has not been forthcoming, just wants to go to Bordeaux so he can fck off.

People would be disgusted if they got laid off without having a fair chance to prove themselves due to an injury at work so why should Mendy be any different?

desertfox2 Posted 27 July 2017 Posted 27 July 2017 What I don't get is the whole desperate to leave part. He would have had more chances had he not been injured all the time. Hardly our fault he was a glass ankle. James is a perfect example of how a player should act when coming back from injury. Went out on loan and is now giving his all to break back in the side. And he's a proven player for us in the past. Mendy should take note. (Not a sick note) if we want to sell then we may end up taking a hit but we are not a charity so why all the negative press as if we are in the wrong for not having our pants pulled down over any player that wants out.
