On the assumption we play a 442 as per the last couple of years and preseason who do you think should start in the two centre mid spots of the XI? Made two separate questions as multiple choice means all options can be selected. Have fun.

Mendy is not fit and likely to leave. I like the look of Iborra,he is class. How he will adapt to our system only time will tell. Ndidi has enormous potential and should be a first choice. Of DD, James and King Matty J. Seems to have taken his chance so far. I'm just glad we seem to have options after last season.

If Riyad goes we will need more creativity.

I think James has looked very good in preseason but I think that Drinky might still edge the starting spot with Wilf.

Who put Kingy!??

Ndidi and Drinky.

If/When we lose RM, and Drinky gets his form back, he might be able to step up and show his creative talents. In his best form, he was knocking some lovely passes, just needs confidence to take a shot as well now.

I've put Ndidi and Drinkwater as I'm generally more in favour of gradually changing things, but Drinkwater's place is coming under serious threat I think.

I'd like to see them try 3-5-2 or something similar with the following....

Kasper, Maguire, Benny, Other CB, Albrighton, Gray, Iborra, Ndidi, Drinky, Mahrez, Vardy

Obviously depends on new/more signings!!!

 Sums up my thoughts.

People are really voting James from his few pre-season games over Drinkwater's one and a half years of solid performances in the Prem? That's as fickle as you can get.

Ndidi and Drinky all day long to start with.

It's more to do with Drinky's last 6 months of poor performances in the Prem that makes me want to drop him from the starting XI, and less to do with wanting to promote James based on preseason. Of course preseason games isn't the best way to judge players, but so far Drinky has shown signs of carrying on his poor form.

James's last 6 months of Prem performances have been none existent. He'll still need a lot of time to adapt back to that level, and I'm sure he'll get his chance, but we know Drinky can perform so he needs to be shown some loyalty by his manager and the fans.

Ndidi and Iborra for me at the moment.....Iborra from what I've seen lately also likes to move up.....and he tracks back. Works for me

Drinkwater when he's on is fabulous but most of last year he was poor and if he doesn't pull up his socks he may be watching from the bench.

Ndidi has kept improving and he'll be vying for one of the two positions

James looks good in pre-season but will have to bide his time for a starting spot

Iborra has looked the part. To me he brings a strong presence to our midfield

Didn't put Ndidi first place as I thought I should because after watching Maguire put his foot on the ball and move forward I'm reverting to Danny " the smallest fastest turning cog moves all the others". But I hope we don't play him till he breaks.

Matty James proving that the less you play the better you become.

Happened with Knockart too

Gone for Ndidi and Drinky, presuming it will be the fit, sharp, dynamo version of Drinky that we get every second season. James can be putting great pressure on Drinky to improve  and between the two of them I'm confident we'll have a quality partner for Ndidi. I can see us playing Iborra in a three for some of those tougher games where we need to dig in. If we play a three we could risk a more attacking player at least coming on as a sub such as Lawrence, Barnes or Kingy in his old ghosting into the box role.

As for the injury prone French Lad, as Bob Geldof once asked, "Tell me why, I don't like Mendy". He could stay and be a bright buzzing player that knits everything together or he could be sat out injured on the sidelines just..knitting.

Ndidi rotated with Iborra and someone else currently. There's no one else in our squad that could make anything happen up front. The best bet we have is to thread the ball through to the wings and hope Slimani gets on the end of something.
