Been told office staff to be relocated to the other side of the river. Building work to start on the west stand within 12months.

Yes the west stand.

Can see this being true as I've always felt that the owners would like a grander stadium. Developing the west stand would allow them to produce a more impressive design.

More boxes and more premium seats. Makes sense financially I suppose.

More premium seats that we don't even sell out most weeks anyway. Great idea by the club. Sod the average Joe who are mostly the ones wanting to come along.

Anyway... pretty sure the stadium wasn't even built to have that extended, only the other side.

Yeah I thought the East stand was the only one built with foundations for an immediate expansion?

Hopefully it's the west and the kop. Would expect plans to be submitted soon if it's going to happen.

Filbert Street wasn't designed to be expanded but it didn't stop them replacing the Main Stand with a much bigger stand.

We won't be knocking a whole stand down.

I think the point is its easier to do the east stand.

I'm sure they want to improve the corporate offering because that's where the money is. I think I saw that Brighton had higher revenues from its corporate stuff than half the PL when they were in the Championship because the stadium was built with that in mind. Imagine they'll be making a hell of a lot more this year.

Which suggests that they'd have to have a very good reason for taking the harder option.

Hey I'm just passing on what I've been told by someone that gives me info and gets a lot right.

I don't doubt your info at all I think it suggests all sorts of possibilities.

Another reason for the West Stand making sense is that it makes the ground look more impressive on TV as the TV cameras are based in the East Stand which creates a better image for the club.

I went to Newcastle and Celtic and I always thought they had big beautiful stadiums but the reality was they both had old average looking stands from where the TV cameras are based.

Actually that's a very very important point hadn't considered that.

They could move all the office staff into an expanded east stand and have additional corporate facilities. This would then enable them to alter the West Stand without a major rebuild of it. There's also potentially more space for expansion in the East side. That enables them to present a better looking ground as the East stand is the most visible to the public

My understanding is on Saturday tickets were on general sale.

People are now bored of mid table mediocrity already.

The fanbase does not warrant it I don't think.

Single tickets dotted around the ground. The other half wanted to take the kids and went down during the week to see if she could get any, as it was they couldn't go.

I don't understand people's fear of expanding and growing the club.

So they got to general sale and then sold out. If we had more available on general sale then even more would've had a chance to go.

Wouldn't it be simpler and cheaper to relocate the TV gantries to the west stand then develop the, (allegedly), cheaper east side option ?

It's not a fear!

i just heard there were tickets available. My gripe would be empty seats and a worse atmosphere, but after Saturday's game there is probably not a lot to lose.
