It's out to tender now with work commencing in June? That's pretty quick isn't it?

Its just what I understand to be the case - yes.

Edit: I realise the planning application does not show up yet but I pretty much know the tender is out there.

I hear that he tender is out there to expand the East stand to increase capacity to I believe to be 41K - Planning permission I understand is granted and work subject to satisfactory tender to commence in June.

Sounds bloody fantastic (if true?)

There is massive amount of people that think every game is a complete sell out.The club need to get the message out better when tickets are available.

Also filbert street didn't always sell out but we still added thousands on our average when we moved.

Dead right. No idea there were tickets going. Easy for club to set up an app to alert non ST holders if tickets available, or does this exist and they've just not told anyone?

Excellent news.

Ticket sales may be slower than what they were a couple of years ago, but we could easily shift another 5,000 season tickets. We're selling out League Cup matches, which says it all really.

We look like we're a stable top flight club now, so it's time to get this sorted and kick on.

Just looked and we average 96.6% capacity this season. Take into account all the single seats left that couples or families cant use. Even man u only average 99%.

That's the problem, most groups of people probably wouldn't want to sit in single seats so the only alternative is to grab groups of tickets as soon as they go on sale, but they sell so quickly.

True, lots of man utd fans around.;)

Last game I saw vs Man Utd was at Filbert Street (confirming our relegation); are there still pockets of the glory hunting bastards jumping up amongst the home fans when they score?

Let's hope we don't find out.

They do get in and then the stewards have to sort it out before it kicks off.

Last season group of them were escorted elsewhere from near where I sit to who knows where, the season before a smaller group were escorted away too before it kicked off.

It may not be the most vocal part of the ground where I sit but at times it can be exciting, though the best was in the Champions League when it was close to getting out of hand when a load of away supporters were seated across the steps from us and one of the lads wouldn't let it go, fortunately they never scored and we beat them, if they had scored, well, it would have made for interesting TV.

Laughable rubbish

You do realise the addition of nearly 9,000 seats and the work that entails would need consultation with multiple agencies. Highways would need to be consulted, the police, fire service, environmental impact. Not to mention the opportunity for local residents to make representations. Then there's the fact such a development would not just be waved through by one planning officer. This would need to be approved at a planning committee meeting.

There might have been lots of pre-application work going on behind the scenes, to make sure when an application comes to pass it isn't going to get thrown out. But until it's been officially lodged, the necessary time has been given for comments on the application, it's been recommended for approval or refusal by an officer, there's been a planning committee to give the final say on approving or refusing an application and the Section 106 agreement has been signed, planning permission most certainly has not been granted. If it has it would not have gone under the radar, no way.

I seem to remember Soulsby saying he'd help any expansion plans through the planning stage (can't find link) - maybe all that has already happened?

We would get 45,000 in tonight if it were possible.

What's the point in expanding the ground if it's only going to be full four/five games a season? Yeah 45,000 would probably go tonight, but 32,000 didn't turn up last week against Palace.

I believe that local government in Leicester is still a democracy with procedures ??

not living there means I'm not aware of local stuff but I would have thought a planning application would have been spotted. It takes six months to be allowed to stick up a conservatory down here - surely actually starting work in six months on this is fanciful?? .

Well it’s great that you are not being a massive bellend about it all.

Im not in the know on the processes (which clearly are a major part of your life) but I know people who are tendering for aspects of the contract - who inform me that they consider that it will go ahead.

Well.... it's Called a democracy... but in reality with party politics it is more of a consentual dictatorship.

The Mercury claimed back in June/July that the club had consulted a number of architects so that might tally with the progress rumours.

Besides if you can't flount your own laws what's even the point of being mayor?!

I didn’t go against Palace but would have done with the expansion. It might sound ridiculous but if we expanded I would buy three season tickets and be at every game. I can plan my life around football but I can’t drop things at the last minute when I become aware of the unusual opportunity to go.

This.

the club don’t exactly let the fans know when there are x amount of tickets available anyway. But if we had an extra 10k seats and I can get a ST for myself and my boy (possibly) then I’d be there.

Strokes post is spot on

Agree with this

there are plenty out there that would go knowing there is a much better chance of picking a ticket up etc either as above through additional season ticket sales bought or otherwise
