Meanwhile Shakey does appear fairly happy with the squad which I find totally baffling. Why is it so baffling? We have added three players that will probably fit into the first team. A first team with a lot of quality as well. Also as it stands we have lost nobody and have reasonable strength on the bench. We also don't know all that is going on behind the scenes.

Central midfield looks extremely weak and to compensate we're going to have to play 3 in the middle against stronger teams. I'd rather us get specialist players who do specific jobs so that we don't have to do this. In the interests of this we need a creative midfielder and probably a ball winner (as I'd be surprised if Iborra can get around the pitch quickly enough to do that job in this league and certainly no one else is up to it). We're still putting up with a substandard right back with no competition, our two best midfielders want to leave (even if they are out of form it still begs the question as to who can match their quality at their best) and with Benalouane out of favour and Wes & Huth borderline over the hill we clearly need a centre back. To be fair, at least we look to be trying to get one of those. Meanwhile the squad is full of players who just lack the quality to challenge the first 11 - Amartey, King, Slimani, Ulloa, Mendy, Chilwell - we'll leave out Musa as he appears to be off. Yeh our squad is big enough, but it isn't really good enough. Unless we pull off 3 wonder signings in one day with players, nay, positions even that we haven't even been linked with, I declare us short.

Assuming not, I fail to see how your example relates to our current situation. 'That's what Blackpool fans said in August 2015 before they got relegated to League 2.'
Sunbury Fox Posted 30 August 2017 Posted 30 August 2017 I understand everyone's frustration but i think what is clear that it is not easy for clubs of our stature to attract the very top players, even at a time when we'd just won the league. So, which players have signed for similar or smaller clubs in this window who people genuinely think would improve our first XI?

Centre mid looks extremely weak because two key players are unavailable. Yes, another would be good as I don't rate James. However assuming it stays as it is, when fit I think we are ok. Huth and Morgan are not shot yet and we'll be able to rotate them if needed. Again another would be nice and we are obviously trying, but not essential. A subs bench including Slimani, Gray, Okazaki/Iheanacho, Iborra/Ndidi, Huth/Morgan and Chilwell is not bad at all.

Sunbury Fox Posted 30 August 2017 Posted 30 August 2017 Gibbs better than Fuchs?? Not sure about that. Siggurdson went to what is perceived to be a bigger club.
Shaggy Posted 30 August 2017 Posted 30 August 2017 I don't think there will be anymore signings in this window,£20m will only get you a average player nowadays, and we are not short of them

Huth & Maguire is a pretty solid defensive partnership, and if we have Drinky and Iborra coming in to replace James, keep hold of Mahrez, and noone has sniffed at Albrighton then all is good. Shame we couldn't offload Ulloa

Reality is, he doesn't set the budget, he doesn't negotiate transfers, he can't force clubs to bid on our players so that we can ship some players out to leave space for new ones. We have lost nobody, signed Maguire, Iborra, Iheanacho, James and Mendy are back from injury. Even if a couple of fringe players go, we're still stronger than last season overall. That's a squad that finished 12th (wrongly disallowed goal in last game from 8th) despite only being at it for about the last quarter of the season.

It worries me that we have no one lined up to sign for us. IMO we need 3 quality players to come to Leicester I can't see that happening.

We've improved all areas of the pitch already, it's about the strongest squad we've had. Another winger and a CB would be nice if we can move moose and Benny. If we can't then we just go with them as 4th choice winger and cb.
Dames Posted 30 August 2017 Posted 30 August 2017 We desperately need a centre back who doesn't launch the ball up the field at every opportunity. It severely hinders the team.

Drivelon... if you think we are solid in those two areas then sound. We are lite in central defence, right back and centre midfield. And if we lose DD even more so. seriously, take a break from dominating this forum and also change your pic. It's shit ?
