If only it was that simple. It's been stated that LCFC submitted the paperwork in time but the FA are saying they received it after the deadline.

We don't know what length the elapsed time was but it exposes a flaw in the system as LCFC have no control over how long electronic data takes.

What if they'd submitted it hours before and it still arrived late? Surely the process should be based on the submission time which if it's electronic means it will be time stamped at the time of submission.

Of course the club will state this, they trying to put blame on someone else

Who is the guy that sky sports news keep showing in relation to this story, running back in to get some paper work then running back to his car?

I blame him for not running fast enough.

They were showing that from about 7pm and they just kept showing it with the same report which was only ever about Mahrez well until 11.30ish when I decided enough was enough and went to bed.

Did I seriously read that if the appeal is unsuccessful, we're not going to sign him in January either?

What a disgrace if so.

Where did you read that bud?  :o

God damn this is annoying!

No worse a situation in practice than the Mendy transfer. He was signed and couldn't really play for over 6 months and not much after that iirc.

Just pretend he was injured in training and can't play for 4 months.

Surely it will be embedded in our systems data?

Davie,  whatever any of us thinks it is up the the club to argue this out and I hope they are successful.  But, just for my understanding... are you able to clarify:

Is TMS some find of system that the clubs logs on to to upload files (images of documents) and to record/confirm buy/sell transactions?  or is it a system operated by the FA and wee first have to send the info to them?

If we (lcfc) have to log on to the system to upload stuff and to confirm transactions, then who does hosts the system?  and is there some way our staff and check the accuracy of  the TMS systems clock  on that system --- as this might enable us to see if they were measuring time right.  Can we check the time at which we confirmed the transfer of silva on that system?

If the fa operate TMS (as I previously thought) then surely our responsibility ends with the arrival (or sending ?...which?) of the information and confirmation to the FA - if so how si this done (email?)?

if anyone else has these answers then please feel free to enlighten me.

Sorry I don't  know the answers to that. All my posts on this are just speculation as with most people.

Some murmurings in Lisbon press that SCP deliberately argued about the price to delay and try and scupper the deal.

Whilst that that paints them in a poorer light to us it doesn't excuse us for not pulling the plug when timing became uncertain.

Of course, if it was really only 14 seconds, we almost did have enough time - but almost clearly  isn't enough

Quite feasible it was all agreed, so we agreed to the DD transfer, as soon as they saw the DD singing had gone through they ask for more money.

Still, they shouldn't have let DD go through though until it was done.

I wish (insert name of foreign signing you don't like here) hadn't got international clearance.

Clocks on all phones and computers read as 4 digits. So 14 seconds plus will still read as 01.00 and NOT 01.00.14.

Hence 01.01 is late.

That's short form, they all have the capability to measure seconds for instance the time at the bottom-right of my computer screen says 16:13 right now but if I click on it a mini tab pops up with further details including with the long form time of 16:13:22, I'd besurprised if the electronic time stamp doesn't include seconds.  Not that it seems to matter because  it looks like we don't have the time stamp (or that it says differently to the time we're claiming we submitted).

But that would have meant signing Silva before completing the Drinkwater transfer. I believe you have counselled against that?

In theory we have Iborra, James and Ndidi ahead of those two. King will likely be the captain for cup games.

For sure though, this debacle could end up costing us up to 5 league places if it's as tight as last year.

Please stop with the facts and let's help to spread mass hysteria.

No I haven't. I've merely argued against people saying we should have bought Silva ages ago whether DD was going or not. It may have been the case of DD needing to go to stay within rules (potentially, none of us know).

BUT... we could easily have held back on paperwork from our end that completes the deal until we had Silva.

In the realm of us protecting ourselves, this makes more sense than signing Silva earlier.

We're just not a club that can stockpile players.
