It's a really cheap tactic that really reflects badly on Sporting if they've tried to squeeze €200k more after the price has been agreed and so late in the day. It's like buying a house and the seller putting another £1,000 on the price the day before exchanging contracts. It doesn't leave a lot of good will there.

Hey, at least their president didn't call our owners the "the dildo brothers"
TheUltimateWinner Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Knowing us we'll probably miss the deadline to appeal by 14 seconds also
Dan Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Sporting screwing the player over there too if that's the case.
fuchsntf Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Silvas mother says thanks for trying you can try in January again Please Mrs silva I ju s t want to tell him goodbye just to tell him goodbye and Fifa says its 14 secs more so try your luck i n 4 months through the front door... but please Mrs Silva............
knitro Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 I'd hope some pressure from the Portuguese worried about their national team having a player suffer helps - perhaps Ronaldo says something on the subject. FIFA would not want to be opposite him.

Guest Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Presumably we could loan him to sportimg until january to give him game time and not have him play for a second club this season?

Who else aside from the club decided to sell drinkwater so late and get a replacement with so little time? First I heard its not LCFC that made that decision. Who was it?

Didn't post the whole thing as its quite a long and protracted article Then at least link to the article, the devil is in the detail.
The Guvnor Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 One journo stating a lawyer has suggested we never included a clause where if international clearance wasn't approved then there was no deal, so he would be our player in limbo, if that is the case then what a shambles.

Do we not employ a legal team, or a legal expert working with the inept team that sorts transfers? This club needs a shake up.
Mike Oxlong Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Oh my ! Have we really just spent £22m on a player that has less chance of playing than Conrad did. ?

IMO too many foot ball clubs are staffed by people from footballing backgrounds... in some places we need other skills. I bet the chef went to food college...

A shake up is an understatement.

Yes that's the impression I had - that they haggled over €200k and it took them dangerously close to the deadline (which by the time the paperwork went through, me missed)

No I don't think they asked for more, it's just the two sides took a long time (ultimately too long) to agree the price, with Leicester seemingly unwilling to go the extra €200k the Sporting chairman wanted. If correct then this extra €200k has cost us dearly!
