Kante buggered off without the assistant being manager and Mahrez released his statement before CS had even been given the job. Is Klopp an established manager, because he's having trouble with Coutinho. How many established managers have saints had when their players have left for elsewhere? Or Spurs, when Rose and Walker come out with stuff like this? I'm absolutely sick and tired of people looking for reasons to bash the manager, this stuff happens everywhere and is little to do with the manager. I accept we're nothing short of a stepping stone and all of our players would mostly jump at the chance to go elsewhere. What I don't agree with is doing it in public, it's a huge lack of respect for the people currently paying your wages.
HankMarvin Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 'The last team I play for? I'm only 21 at heart, really,' Vardy said. 'Who knows what can happen? I've spoken about it with my agent (John Morris) in the past. A move abroad. 'Who knows. That would be something I'd probably like to experience. A different culture. We'll have to wait and see what happens.' Asked which country would appeal to him, Vardy added: 'Anything, really, just so I can get a different culture, a different experience, as I've only ever been in England.' I wonder if Athletico will be interested come January, depending on Costa

Name me a club that's never lost a player to bigger club willing to pay bigger wages, shall we slate their managers as well. Bloody Ferguson, too soft letting Ronaldo go to Madrid. This isn't just one player though is it? Kante, Mahrez, DD, Gray, now Vardy too! I'm sure next summer there will be more the band of brothers spirit etc has gone! And that's down to the manager
TheSomersetFox Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Headline is misleading. He's said nothing out of place.

I'm not necessarily putting the Vardy interview as a part of this but.... after this Silva debacle is thrown into the mix AND with DD gone which are two negatives in one, it does feel like the tide is turning - the wrong way! In respect of Shakey; and I said this last season,; he showed weakness towards Mahrez which stood out like a sore thumb and I think the other players saw that. In public it was; we won't pander to him; then come game time he played regardless of his form WHEN WE WERE ALREADY SAFE. Thats a bad example to set from the get go imo. Of course this is just my sense of what is happening, and if it turns out to be bollox I won't be afraid to say I was wrong. As a life long fan I do hope Shakey can be successful.
wardyfox86 Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 This is why football is so broken. PL winning players on our books, proving it can be done with hard work. Now half that squad looking to move on to 'win trophies' Believe Schmeichel will probably go next summer anyway (with every fans blessing I would imagine) Maybe it's just best they all left, and we just get in players whose careers peak at us. It's not often we have teams above us wanting our players, we're usually selling Max Gradel to Leeds for a dinner money.
TrentFox Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 I would have raised more of an eyebrow if he'd said he didn't want to win any more trophies and was content to sit here forever and a day.

I don't blame him for being interested if a bid came in from a big club, but to say it in the press smacks of trying to engineer a move. The timing is strange. We are in an odd position as a club currently, due to the unexpected success, but we need the squad and staff to truly believe that they can achieve great things again and spring another surprise. Instead, Drinkwater has gone, Mahrez wants to leave, Vardy has said he would consider moving and even Schmeichel has talked about the Champions League being addictive. It seems like the squad have accepted that we are back to being a mid table team. I believe the squad believe in themselves and each other but I think they don't believe in whats happening behind the scenes enough. They aren't all stupid and they would have realised that we had a massive opportunity to kick on after winning the league but it was never taken instead the club just brought in complete and utter mediocrity.

Agreed. I think thats it, end of.
the fox Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 Kinda disappointed with him, many people used vardy as an example of loyalty and "a Leicester player forever" when they talked about drinky, gray and mahrez. Its safe to say that many, many people have eggs on their faces right now.
Harry96 Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 No surprise he's coming out with this after his best mates gone Chelsea
the fox Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 *gray wants game time*= bin the overrated attitude merchant! *drinky wants Chelsea*= ungrateful , hope he stays in the bench and gets binned to a lower table team in 2 years *mahrez wants champions league football"= ungrateful! Sulked last season and disrespected the club, one season wonder. (And I'm not even talking about what people said recently, that was before the summer transfer window) *vardys says that he wants to win more titles*= "oh, look at our little lad, he is all grownup now :'(" The only difference is vardy did it in a nicer way. He said he talked to his agent about leaving so the "he is so loyal" argument is out of the window now!

Can't blame him for wanting to win more, always felt he comes across as ambitious in his interviews. But we're fvcked if he goes. Due to our style of football, which is built around him, he's our most important player. We'll not find anybody else like him. If only there was some kind of academy...
UPinCarolina Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 I'm reading this I don't see anything in there that worries me. Some seem to think that we cannot win trophies at Leicester in the future? Vardy is still here, and I read that as he *wants to win* - which I want all of our players to want, obviously!
Dickov22 Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 No bigger Vardy fan than me and I find this interview a little bit disrespectful to be honest.
Dan Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 To be honest, again, I can half sympathise with some of our players who have yet again been let down by the recruitment - they know without Silva that weakens us for a few months at least. They were poor for a lot of last year but it must be quite hard to accept being in such a situation when they know they're capable of better.

It's like saying Pochettino is responsible for Walker wanting to go to City or Rose spouting off every few months. It's about money and moving to teams that win things. These players have made a name for themselves here and are sought after, when previously they weren't.

I put money on if we had a well known manager and we looked ambitious enough to move forward then the players would have stayed! Instead they think they can't win anything else here so need to move on!

I'm confused, Mahrez's statement came after the season, so Shakey had no comments about not pandering to him. Yes he kept playing him when he wasn't playing brilliantly, but for me half a Mahrez was still better than Gray. He's come back this summer and played well in preseason, so he deserved his place on merit. If he wasn't picking Mahrez and we constantly lost games, people would be going nuts on here. You can't win.

It's called ambition, or greed in the case of some. Why else would Walker go to City? Alexis would go to City tomorrow if he could. Arsenal have been losing their best players for years, RVP went to United. Spurs went on to better their previous season and still had mutiny. People are so desperate to slate the club they don't look for the most obvious and most probably answer, with evidence littered across decades of teams losing players to bigger clubs.
DatfoxesKid23 Posted 7 September 2017 Posted 7 September 2017 when he's older he will go to Oud-Heverlee Leuven

Many companies might have that policy but doesn't mean it can't work. Some of Liverpool's greatest managers ever were assistants first. Paisley did nearly every job at Liverpool, ended up manager and won about five league titles and three European Cups. It's a fallacy assistant managers can't make good managers.
