Unpopular opinion I have is that I hate the word community. Not what it stands for, just the word. It’s over used these days. It’s never a town/village/area. It’s always community.

Also, there is always a buzz word in education - recently it’s been deep dive. Don’t like that either.

I hate words! 😂

I think you're leaning towards what you find funny, which is obviously subjective and away from what's genuinely offensive and upsetting to people. I think if me and @Strokes now make a point of making a "Woy" joke everytime we quote you or something, you'd probably have a point about us trolling and we're being twats, but I think that's about all you can say on these types of jokes on an Internet forum. In reality it's all harmless fun, and you have from two people with speech impediments say that they don't mind it or find it funny, so it's probably not worth getting worried about.

In fairness my sausages example wasn't completely out of the blue, it was once considered high comedy to corner me on the playground and demand I say all kinds of words with s in them.   I can appreciate how that might generate amusing images in people's heads, no doubt a couple on here will get a good chuckle out of it, but there is no doubt that the intention was humiliation and that's kind of my point with the Woy stuff and why I say I struggle to see it as all in good fun.

I wonder what happened to that account that used to post as 'Jonathan Woss'?

But like I say I've had similar. People repeating what I've said and emphasising the lisp. That's a power play. They've noted a deficiency in you and they're going to grab it and use it to humiliate you to your face, in front of others to make themselves look like they are the boss. People will generally laugh along because anyone who defends you gets dose too. I can separate that behaviour with people making the odd joke about a celebrity they'll never meet and who will never see the joke. If Hodgson was on twitter and he got a barrage of it everyday, from the same people, I can see the problem. I would never make that joke to his face. Why? Because its a horrible thing to do. But I have no problem with it on an Internet forum, it gives me no power over Hodgson doing so, it doesn't affect him in anyway, so it's totally harmless.

Car theory test is too strict. It only suits young people who:

1. Don’t work full-time/have loads of free time

2. People who are book worms

3. Those who have an interest in cars before hand

lollol how many times have you failed then?

It's strict for a reason as research has shown that younger/novice drivers are more likely to be killed on the roads because the previous tests were too simple and didn't include hazard perception, which is vital as new driver.

2)You need to study/revise in order to pass.

3)You need to understand the basics of how a motor vehicle works

It's just common sense really. Which sounds obvious, and probably annoying, but don't overthink it. I remember when I first used to practice and wanting to select practically everything.

My step-daughter passed her practical last week.

She'd failed her first 3 attempts, then absolutely nailed this one, not even a single minor!

The instructor told her it was the perfect test.

I have no physical proof that she's passed and I'm not totally convinced that she really did lol

I'd agree with this.

On the vast majority of questions, common sense almost always rules out at least 2 of the options.

Take your time and think logically.

Depending on how you learn, try it by using the audio questions as opposed to written questions - trial it out first.

Not saying it will definitely work but I knew someone years ago who tried this and pass the theory after failing it numerous times, think they just 'got' the questions a lot better by hearing them rather than reading.

Congrats to her, hope she’s pleased :)

Thanks.

She's over the moon and relived more than anything!

She wants to join the police after uni, so the driving licence is a big plus for her.

I sold her a car about 6 weeks ago, so she's been dying to rip up the L plates.

Me and the Mrs are definitely owed lifts to and from the pub, so that's a bonus.

Thanks, I’ll give it a go. I’m definitely more of a learner from speech/visualisation than text, maybe I need to change up my revision methods :)

I got tested at uni after cocking up another multiple choice exam and was diagnosed with dyspraxia. I understand they are also an issue for people with dyslexia. Could be part of the issue for you?

I found it quite tough, tbh.

My nephew was moaning about how hard it was, and did the whole ‘it’s more difficult than when you did it’ nonsense.

So I bet him that I could pass it.

Booked myself in for a test and actually struggled a bit 🙈

I was then a bit worried about what would happen if I failed…would I lose my licence?!

Passed by a single point.

Told him I nailed it, obviously.

I'm not saying it's really easy, but there's definitely some that can be ruled out logically that then makes it a 50/50.

It's like going back to school, the stuff the kids bring home now and ask for help with is ridiculous. I never learnt any of that!

43 phew, I can still drive.  I take exception to the question about burns though, according to the test you're supposed to douse severe burns in cold water but they offered applying lotion as an answer too...  I could've sworn I read elsewhere that water on burns isn't the best immediate remedy so to me grabbing a burn lotion from the med kit and applying it is the obvious correct answer.  @Parafox are you able to clear this up?

Hopefully.

In burns/scalds/heat injuries, the first thing you should do is run it under cold water for at least 15 mins to take the heat out of the injury. Then dry gently and if necessary repeat, then seal the burned area with clingfilm if the area is large. The residual heat in a minor burn causes pain and that's why it needs to be cooled. A larger more severe area of a burn exposes the nerve endings if the burn has taken off the first layer of skin. The pain from this is caused by exposure of the nerve endings to the ambient air which is why clingfilm is used to provide a barrier.

Never put anything oily, such as a lotion or butter (as used to be advised) on a burn. Cold flannels, cold water is the first action. Keep it cold, take the heat out. The heat causes pain in minor burns.

Never burst blisters. They're a protective response. Let them heal over time.

Hope this helps.

Big time, should I just throw my med kit's burn lotion in the bin then?

Depends what it is and what it composes. Lotion suggests an oily substance. Unless it's a sealed pack of something that will cool a burn without contaminating it then, yes, chuck it.

Burns are very prone to infection if there is skin loss as a result. For simple burns without losing skin, i.e. blistering, cooling under cold running water is the best thing.

Having said that, is the lotion called something like "water-gel"? If so then that's something we also use. It's not a lotion as such. It's a bit like very cold jelly.

Split the package open and squeeze the contents over the burn then cover with a dressing or, preferably clingfilm.

All I know is it's a reusable bottle so it doesn't sound particularly promising, next time I go out to the car I'll pull it out and take a closer look.
