Theory test questions were pretty easy when I did it but the hazard perception thing was a right pain. It wasn't hard to see what the hazard was but having to click at the right time to register it and then having the machine tell you that you clicked too much and were getting 0 was annoying.

Hopefully.

In burns/scalds/heat injuries, the first thing you should do is run it under cold water for at least 15 mins to take the heat out of the injury. Then dry gently and if necessary repeat, then seal the burned area with clingfilm if the area is large. The residual heat in a minor burn causes pain and that's why it needs to be cooled. A larger more severe area of a burn exposes the nerve endings if the burn has taken off the first layer of skin. The pain from this is caused by exposure of the nerve endings to the ambient air which is why clingfilm is used to provide a barrier.

If you've got a good first aid kit, it might include a burns dressing which is a sealed pack of a chemical which, when applied, becomes very cold over time

Never put anything oily, such as a lotion or butter (as used to be advised) on a burn. Cold flannels, cold water is the first action. Keep it cold, take the heat out. The heat causes pain in minor burns.

Never burst blisters. They're a protective response. Let them heal over time.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Para, very helpful!
Whilst you’re there and answering questions, I have this rash… I can dm pics if you like…

Got the one about burns wrong, should have read this topic first lol

Other one was keeping well left when turning into a minor road from a main road - I don't do this because it just encourages people to go for a dodgy overtake imo and makes the turn tighter.

The problem with the hazard perception part is that you can genuinely be penalised for spotting the hazard too quickly. In most examples the developing hazard is on screen before the period in which you score points for clicking starts. It's bullshit really.

@Parafox is just going to recommended that you hang out at classier bars and have a quick dose of antibiotics.

However, I want to know the bars you currently hang out at and am open to seeing pics lol

Is it a raised bumpy rash or just a localised reddening?

I don't need to see pics of your hard-on, just stop wanking. It'll go away.

That's called reacting to something before it is a clear hazard, which might suggest you are over cautious and a danger to other road users...

I found it quite tough, tbh.

My nephew was moaning about how hard it was, and did the whole ‘it’s more difficult than when you did it’ nonsense.

So I bet him that I could pass it.

Booked myself in for a test and actually struggled a bit 🙈

I was then a bit worried about what would happen if I failed…would I lose my licence?!

Passed by a single point.

Told him I nailed it, obviously.

Did this actually happen?

You booked and paid for an official theory driving test just to win a bet against your nephew?

You can find mock exams online you know lol

Not really. As said you're also penalised for clicking too much and it's a different matter clicking everything that comes on screen which would happen under what you're suggesting. I'm not suggesting you should score points the millisecond the hazard comes on screen, but it seems unduly harsh that someone coming in a split second before the 5 point mark gets nothing. They've got to draw the lines somewhere though I suppose. My suggestion would be putting an additional 1 point zone in before the 5. Its a blunt instrument is my real point.

I got hit with this on my first theory test. I clicked when I saw the hazard but apparently that was too soon to register so I clicked repeatedly as I didn't think it had went through

43 phew, I can still drive.  I take exception to the question about burns though, according to the test you're supposed to douse severe burns in cold water but they offered applying lotion as an answer too...  I could've sworn I read elsewhere that water on burns isn't the best immediate remedy so to me grabbing a burn lotion from the med kit and applying it is the obvious correct answer.  @Parafox are you able to clear this up?

Good old H2O2 for all burns

The Theory Test is like any other, you just need to revise a little and you’ll be fine.

There’s a free app for your phone with mock tests with I found helpful and passed straight away. Whereas my mate that is adamant that it’s “just common sense” has failed 4 times. Ironically showing that he doesn’t have any.

There’s some common sense involved, but a lot of it remembering figures and signage.

Out of interest, what do you drive? Colour and registration if you don't mind, so I can avoid you :D

Hazard perception is easy. When I did my theory test in 2015 (I think) you had unlimited clicks as long as you didn't spam it iirc.

 It wasn't very good.

H2O2 is bleach and therefore not very good for burns....

I'll see myself out

I got it.

I guess I should have written mine NaBrO, which is Sodium Hypobromite, a compound found in bleach.....

I'll get my coat too.
