In your opinion.

Well yeah obviously, but considering this is an "opinion" thread I'm not gonna add "in my opinion" on every post.

Similar to the reply of "bollocks" to my post above, it's all opinion.

No chance. Oasis and, especially, Blur were consistent. Pulp had one stand out album.

I think there are four genuinely good Pulp albums of which the most commercially successful is probably the weakest, but that's often how it goes, isn't it?

I used to love Oasis, my first gig was Knebworth, I was spoilt.

Don't really listen to them much now, I will occasionally.

Surprised nobody has mentioned The Verve, they were incredible.

Moseley Shoals by Ocean Colour Scene is a timeless album too.

One of my all time favourites, I absolutely love every single song

True. Commercially Different Class I'm guessing, that's why I described as standout, though I do like the two albums after of that.

Same with Oasis, Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory are the standouts but I actually really like Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants which isn't as popular.

But above all else music (and comedy) is subjective. Some people follow bands around obssevily who have barely broken through to mainstream. A band I like, The Tragically Hip,  barely broke out of Canada in terms of popularity but I might consider them as better than Oasis or Blur. So to say people who preferred Pulp were just doing it to be edgy is bollocks, they may actually just prefer them.

lol I know all of that.

I did not mention preference though I said people who consider them to be "better".

Take my comment with a pinch of salt though - if there's anywhere to post bollocks then it's this thread - half of the comments in here fall into that category but it's all opinion isn't it..

You have impeccable taste, Deb. I don't know why you're getting the reps for me mentioning it though lol

Always had a big soft spot for Cast, myself. Sandstorm is a regular Saturday morning track for me. John Power is underrated in that Brit pop scene.

Pulp had probably 2 standout albums. His and Hers is better than different class in my opinion. But aye, Blur had some great songs and albums. Oasis were shite but.

Suede and Mansun were much more talented bands than Oasis.

Oasis just had a great songwriter in Noel. Blur had Albarn AND the talent which is why they were better than Oasis.

Suede lol  Behave yourself

What's that's if it's not preference though lol

I just think you can have your opinion on the music, but when you start saying others opinions aren't valid or are only given to be "edgy" isn't right. You prefer Oasis and Blur, they don't. Most people aren't doing that to be edgy, they just have a different preferences. So yeah knock yourself out saying you like one over the other, I just don't think you should be saying others can't hold a similar but different view.

Oasis were/are the best.

Pulp fantastic. 'Do You Remember the First Time' a classic.

Pulp - meh.

Brett Anderson was a very good songwriter and a great vocalist. Not to mention a front man.

Bernard Butler was probably the most talented British guitarist since Johnny Marr. Only challenged by Johnny Greenwood IMO.
