Have read it quite a few times on this forum, but don't understand why some get touchy in seeing others leave football games early.

There could be a variety of reasons; such as getting children ready for school the next morning, family/friend emergency, not feeling well etc.

just happens to happen right after we concede a late goal, that’s all…

The current brouhaha about Qatar and their attitude to human rights in the wake of the current World Cup has got me thinking. So, in light of that...

There is a marked link between the role of organised religion in the government of a country (and yes, China is the same: they just made their own religion, that of "the State") and the level of repression of minorities it exacts on its citizens. That such links between organised religion and government are (still) the majority around the world makes this an unpopular opinion in general I guess, and the sooner those links are consigned to the past and secular governments become the norm all over the world rather than just in more developed countries, the sooner such repression of people without power will end.

So much truth in this. The only problem is that the US is nominally and legally secular, and they are becoming similarly oppressive and autocratic through their “American values”; for which read demonstrative conservative Christianity.

I worry for the USA in the next 20 years or so.

20? I'm struggling to see how there isn't going to be some kind of civil war there in the next five or so years.

The thing is, there aren't neat state based dividing lines as there were for the last civil war. This time, the difference in thought is split pretty much entirely between cities and rural areas.

Goodness only knows how that would work out if there was real division of the civil war kind.

They’ve already made the film

It will be a very different civil war to last time, that's for sure!

Oh imagine the tools some Americans are armed with.

I've been saying this for a while. Before the turn of the century, the war will be over and the USA as we know it will be divided into at least two seperate nations. I say at least two because I suspect that when the fighting starts, places like Texas and Alaska will decide to take off and do their own thing.

I honestly don't see how state secession would work in this day and age when you have a lot of people within each individual state that are divided by ideology, rather than the states themselves being divided.

A bit less of Bradley Walsh might not be such a bad thing

His patter runs a bit thin after a while.

We get it, you're a cheeky geezer but underneath the curmudgeonly eye rolls beats the heart of a good guy.

Mind you, all celebrities have this kind of tiring projected persona don't they? I could do with a bit less of celebrity culture. They're becoming less and less likable and more and more shrill attention seekers.

The difference in taste between pan made scrambled eggs and microwave made isn't worth the extra hassle. The latter is just as good and litteraly takes 2 minutes in a microwavable jug so less cleaning up.

It only takes 2 mins in a pan too. Med/High heat and just keep stirring/moving slowly.

I did see a recipe for a microwave omelette that I might try. Looks pretty easy and much quicker than a pan version which needs to be cooked slower.

The idea that England is uniquely bad and the world hates us is as tiresome as Anglo exceptionalism and not entirely unrelated

Omelette should be cooked fast like scrambled egg. 2-3 mins from start to finish in either case, it's typically quicker than the microwave if you have a gas hob.

The microwave kills the eggs and reminds me of cooking in the 1980s.

I used to cook ommelette fast and it was fine, but it's much better done slowly. It's so easy to accidentally make the eggs hard and rubbery on the outside in a pan on a high heat.

I used to do the same. The YouTube videos by either Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay are excellent.

I love a good omelette.

Just a question for omelette creators, do you pre-cook/fry any extra veg ingredients such as peppers, onions, mushrooms?

Yes, and some strong cheddar grated before the fold.

Mushrooms yes, onions no. I usually do  tomato instead of peppers.

some camping/ survivalists make an omelette/ scrambled eggs in a  plastic ziploc bag in a pot of boiling water too . Less mess and less clean up. You just throw the bag away when you’re done.. I imagine you’d be able to use the boiling water for something else too.. like a cup of tea?
