I mean it isn't news whatever her colour. I was absolutely appalled the other night when my family put on a Channel 5 "special", had Dan Walker interviewing the husband, had a panel of experts drooling over the case. The whole thing is vile, it's not news it's rubbernecking as ghoulish entertainment. 

 

It was briefly news when she went missing, albeit news that's only really relevant to her family, friends and immediate community and since then it's only really served as amusement for the true crime obsessives amongst us. 

 

Sitting listening to people speculate and come up with all sorts of theories, it's grim af. Some woman has almost certainly died, it's not supposed to be enjoyable. 

 

Whenever rubbish like this is dominating the news cycle it's always worth asking what's actually happening in the country that's being under reported, especially when pricks like Braverman weigh in and start using it to grandstand.

Trophy's are irrelevant in this case. Shearer is seen as a PL legend because of his goalscoring record, not because he won the league with Blackburn.

For reasons I’ve set out elsewhere she is right to call into question the police conduct re specific disclosure of personal information 

 

Unless it had a forensic advantage it can’t be justified and only feeds the internet troll culture that you complain of above 

 

Information feeds the trolls as much as lack of information 

 

I can vouch for this having been on this forum for 15 years, albeit not as long as yourself 
 

I agree with the grandstanding bit but the police should be held to account although  that could be done in a more discrete manner rather in the way that has occurred

I was a long way below the boss, hence I did not want to pay too much for others to eat and drink!! Before you ask, yes I did take full advantage of others' leaving do's on usually Thursday's

Wouldn't say you had to put it on, but defo but a bit behind the bar, few bottles of bubbles for the table and get some nibbles in. I was nowhere near senior enough for the company to put a party on for me

I don't agree with her in most things but I do believe she can seperate her beliefs from her politics. 

 

It's just refreshing that a politician actually gives their opinion on controversial matters and doesn't just say what they are expected to say.

I think this is a surprisingly disappointing take from you mate to be honest. 

 

I don't think the actual majority of people want an outright ban on gambling. A very vocal minority on social media, maybe. 

 

But I'd say the majority of people speaking up just want to see a ban on the advertising particularly in and around sport. 

 

I'd say I'm fairly Liberal in my views of what should and shouldn't be banned. I don't care if people want to drink, smoke, pay sex workers, take drugs, gamble, etc. If everyone involved is a consenting adult and nobody's getting harmed then you do you. 

 

But a disproportionately large number of people have problems with gambling and being baited in to it around sport, betting adverts on every break during the football or plastered all over football grounds and shirts feels just as predatory as putting Payday Loans adverts all over football and other traditionally working class venues and media. 

 

And its not like betting companies really need the advertising. We all know what the product is and what they're offering by now. They advertise to compete with each other more than to sell the concept of gambling so if none of them can advertise then, hey, the playing field is level.

 

Then they're going to have to get by on repeat custom which probably means having to offer a better experience to their regular customers anyway so, here's the good news, if you actually enjoy casual sports betting than an advertising ban probably serves your personal interests too.
