Very true, people seem to forget, the back end of last season was poor too including a 1-6 defeat at home.

This stuff about Maguire being rock solid, is utter crap. Though he's definitely the best of a bad bunch.

Defensively, we are awful at present. I mean, as a team,

We look like conceding in every game. There is very little composure and control in this side.

Mainly we are lacking leadership I think. No-one is in control of how we are playing.

Agreed,

i reckon in terms of defending Morgan has been much better than Maguire.

Hes a good player but maybe we are over hyping him because he can play a bit.

weve never had a defender who can play out as good as him. Maybe Elliott.

Pretty much right. Maguire needs to curb his forward excursions and concentrate on defending. When we have a few more points in the bag, provided the midfield cover his forward runs,it will be an option. Morgan has lead more by example in the time at City, Huth appears more vocal but,in his absence, we look to be without leaders. We have been poor defensively since the loss of N'G. Against the lesser teams Iborra could provide the leadership that has been lacking, his limited opportunities so far suggest that he is vocal and can organise defensively. Time will tell.

Ancellotti wouldn't come would he?

massive ambition shown by the owners if we were to get him.

cant see it myself.

I don't think the owners will approach him, but if they did I believe he would take it with great consideration.  He often has remarked that some teams he's found dull to manage because there is little to do other than man manage.  I think if he had the opportunity to build a team and have the resources to do it, he would definitely consider it.  All of this is speculation though.  I think the owners listen to their directors and they won't make such a suggestion...though I hope I'm wrong here.

Back to reality:  we'll win this one 1-0...hopefully

Silva could be the man to give us leadership...

Roll on January.

It's our shocking midfield which is largely to blame for our defensive problems, they offer very little protection and yet we stick with 4-4-2. Maguire is about our most creative player which is scandalous but absolutely necessary if we harbour any intentions of stringing some passes together. We need to build our ethos around him and get some players in alongside him who can support him in the way he plays and make space and protect him.

I think Gray is starting tomorrow.

He posted a picture about Bournemouth with him and Albrighton in it, so...yeah. That'll be that.

Mahrez is wasted on the wing anyway. He doesn't receive the ball often enough from our usual midfield players. He should be the CAM, he has the skill to ping the ball to either Albrighton or Gray on the wings so they can get the crosses in, or a killer pass to Vardy. He would worry any opposition centre half.

Also as a winger he is always being forced to track back and help out the full backs. A complete waste of time and energy for a player of his skill. He is not a great defender/tackler

He's going on tour in the opponent's defensive box because the midfield is chickening out and refuses to take responsibility for going forward. Not going forward, playing safe and ultimately hoof it after 2 passes puts the defense under constant pressure. I'd be pissed off if I was him and support his incursions as long the midfield doesn't do its job.

I've suggested this before but not had much response. I believe he started as a midfielder. Would it be

better to try using him there? We now have Dragovic or maybe Huth (when fit) that could resume CB duties.

I sincerely don't know if he can. He's good at carrying the ball forward, but slow. His passing range ain't exceptional and I can't really give a fair judgement about his game vision. So yeah.

He's a good defender, comfortable with the ball and who can go forward if needed. That's not your average defender and something we really needed. I don't pay attention to the moaners who're making him responsible for the Liverpool defeat and say he cost us a fair share of points. FT will always need a victim and it's generally the one who dared and didn't succeed. I rate him and want to see more of him. He's gonna get better.

No, this shitty 4-4-2 with a weak midfield and deep defending is costing us points.

Come on lads we can win this .... need to be on the front foot from the start as we have better players.

Will be a FT meltdown if in 7 1/2 hours time if we lose this one.

And rightly so there will be a meltdown , if we lose this then Monday I think the owners will think that they need to be looking for a new manager

We lose and he has to go.... I really feel for him because we should never have given him the job.... I really like Craig and think he’s a fantastic coach, and my preferred option would be to ask him to step down back to his old number two.... but I can’t see him accepting that, but unfortunately he is too green in terms of managing a team for the premier league. I can’t see us picking anything up in this game, we’re usually poor against this lot and I can see things going horrible wrong...

I tend to think the owners might let this ride even if we don't do particularly well in the next five games.

We basically got two new blokes on big money contracts (Appleton is on half a million a year for ****s sake! ) who have had six games as we stand. It's a massive pay out and upheaval to send them both down the road.

I have a feeling survival may be good enough for them now; Top and Vic seem to have other fish to fry and Rudkin is running the show.

If NO points are picked up in the next batch of games however they have no choice.
