He kinda sucks in the middle.

Iborra (who athough good with the ball, is not exactly the most mobile of midfielders and plays better in a 3) you're basically playing in midfield by himself as you've put him in with 2 natural wide players... then a man behind 2 strikers??... We already get overran in midfield as it is

Not technical enough, not a great passing range and precision and not a good game vision. In this case bring the Nachoman

ealingfox Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 Comfy 2-0 win for Bournemouth sadly. Another game where we could use a 3rd man in midfield but won't, and watch their average midfielders run rings round our 2.
nnfox Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 What I would like to see: Schmeichel Morgan Maguire Fuchs Iborra Ndidi Gray Okazaki Albrighton Vardy Iheanacho Bournemouth need to be got at and I believe that this line up could cause all sorts of problems for them. Okazaki should play because he is actually in quite a rich vein of scoring form but he naturally falls back to assist the midfield, so although I have him here in that number 10 role, I don't see it as a creative role, just that box to box energy. If anything, Iheanacho could drop back behind Vardy and offer a bit of creativity. I've left Mahrez out because with a 3 at the back, we need a bit more defensive duty out of the wingers. Gray is better defensively. It also gives options when it comes to Okazaki coming off. If we need a goal, Slimani comes on and Iheanacho drops behind Slim and Vardy, if we need to see the game out, King comes on to bolster the midfield. Also, if we need a goal then Mahrez can replace Gray, and Musa (yikes) can inject fresh pace after Albrighton has run himself into the ground again, but likewise, if we need to tighten up a bit then Chilwell/Simpson/Amartey from the bench will do a job. What we'll get though is this: Schmeichel Simpson Morgan Maguire Fuchs Mahrez King Ndidi Albrighton Okazaki Vardy Then have Slimani coming on for Okazaki on 70 mins and with us still needing a goal we'll make an 85th minute double substitution: Iheanacho for Vardy and Gray for Mahrez or Albrighton (probably Albrighton) thus offering no tactical flexibility and only a change in personel.
mod hero Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 Now is not the time to be experimenting with Gray at right wingback. trust me
Livid Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 Hoping we get a win, we could all do with a bit of a lift. Any joy at last week’s cup win was killed off on Saturday.
leicesterseddon Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 I think it's time to adopt 4-5-1 tomorrow to shore up our weak midfield. I know there's a sentimental attachment to 4-4-2, but it's time to face new realities. To be honest, I'm of the opinion that we didn't really play 4-4-2 during much of the league-winning season - Okazaki was often so deep he was essentially an extra midfielder. Anyway...I also think Mahrez should be dropped for Gray, and Iborra should replace King. If fit Fuchs must play ahead of Chilwell at left back. If Vardy isn't fit we are in real trouble - my preference would be for Iheanacho but none of the options are appealing tbh.
daverollo Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 I'd love to see (but maybe for a home game first) Kapser Morgan Maguire Dragon Iborra Wilf Mahrez (wide right) Gray (wide left) Shinji (in the hole) Vardy Slim or Nachoman If we want to set up more conservatively then swap Mahrez for Albrighton and Gray for Chilwell. ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK
Wdywd Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 If Vardy doesn't play our team will be so slow we'll be sucked into the Everton vortex and go back in time
PintsandPyro Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 Even when was smashing every team we played we struggled against Bournemouth. Got a bad feeling we will be in the relegation zone come 5pm tomorrow. Would certainly take a point.

dedlock Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 This will be a tight game. Since Bournemouth were promoted we have shared 3 draws and they won the equivalent fixture last season by the odd goal. Neither side has momentum going into the game so I envisage a similar outcome. Hopefully we will come away with the win.

You sound like you've had it with Shakespeare after 4 points from that lot and 2/2 cup wins? Let's not forget we were very much in each and every game for most of them.. Sadly, I think you're slightly deluded. If we're being dominated after the next 5-6 games then you have every right to moan, but for now (and realistically speaking), where we're at is probably about right. We will learn a lot more about how the season is going to progress from tomorrow onwards. Speaking of which, I think we will win pretty convincingly.

Style of play is horrid and boring. I have not had it with Shakespeare at all, every person deserves a good chance at their job. I've got every right to moan though. I'm fed up with people saying "don't moan" or I "hate" just for criticising or there's a "scapegoat". We've all a right to moan.

Each to their own, just seems slightly bizarre to me given the calibre of teams we've been up against. I could understand it if we've been trying to impose this 'style of play' on teams after 15 games and we've struggled. But we've played 6 games...

It's awful. As for "calibre of teams". Well Huddersfield were largely dominant against us yet I wouldn't call them superb. The only game we've looked comfortable in was Brighton. Liverpool are not a superb side and I'd expect most home teams to get a result against them, just like Watford did earlier in the season. I just don't understand what we work on in training all week. We even watched Coutinho control the league cup game yet four days later let him do it again. It was unbelievable to watch; not once did Shakespeare think to man mark him. Our corners never beat the first man. Nobody in central midfield goes forward. It's simple things like that which are frustrating. If you think we'll "win pretty convincingly" against Bournemouth then fair play but I've seen nothing to suggest that will happen. I fully expect him to put the exact team out too and when he does then I'll not be surprised.
