If this is the case, would be rather surprised that they haven't investigated themselves via their own journalist people (considering who they employ). Don't know what exactly, but the whole scenario surrounding this at present feels fishy.

Hardly read/use their media services but thought they provide some of the work for private, self-employed journalists? The Mercury hasn't really been as good quality/reliable as it has been in the past under the old owners imo. Saying that, in around two days' time, they'll probably read this and release an article saying how they have the best people working for them and the newspaper brand is very popular etc.. Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 16 November 2017 Posted 16 November 2017 Stopped employing photographers some time ago, copy and paste is cheaper. Scan social media for tit bits and infiltrate facebook asking posters to contact them. Seen some distasteful ones. Makes the Sunday Sport look like the Jane Eyre
dynamark Posted 9 December 2017 Posted 9 December 2017 Pleased to advise that LCFC will NOT be purchasing Forest Hill Golf Club - good news for the golf club- King Power ,Rudkin,Leicester Mercury your boys took a hell of a beating. Now lets give Newcaste a lesson didn't realise they have only one point from last six games 1

Heymister2015 Posted 9 December 2017 Posted 9 December 2017 Can they not buy the garendon estate in Loughborough to save it from thousands of cheap nasty William Davis/persimmon homes. It's write next to the M1 and down the road from Loughborough university

Huge potential. Given megarich owners, there's no reason why you shouldn't try and be a lot bigger. Out of interest, what do you get in a training ground for £60m? Burnley's new one cost £11m and is considered to be pretty good. (Certainly better than what we had before!!) Admittedly, we already owned the land, but what else do you get for the extra £49m? we need somewhere to store this....;) 1

Donut Posted 10 December 2017 Posted 10 December 2017 Forest Hill golf course is a strange site for a training ground anyway? Its really hilly (obviously) and full of trees and water. It gets seriously wet in winter and has poor drainage.
The whole world smiles Posted 10 December 2017 Posted 10 December 2017 (edited) I'm actually in the know about something for the first time in my foxestalk life. My inside knowledge comes from work not the club however sorry to dissapoint but I won't be sharing any info on here lose lips sink ships and all that. SO to recap, just so we're all on the same page: We're definitely getting a new training ground And we're spending £60m on it (that's FOUR Ndidis, SIXTY Jamie Vardys or ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-ONE AND A HALF Riyad Mahrezs depending on which way you look at it). Which means we're aiming to emulate Spurs and Man City OR Sunderland and Villa, the latter of which is having to make way for HS2. And it's going to be at a golf course. Which is definitely, definitely going to be Forest Hills at Botcheston, according to people associated with the golf club. Except it's definitely, definitely NOT, according to people associated with the golf club. Also, golf is still apparently a crucial public service, like the NHS and the BBC. Hope that helps. 1 1

Wymsey Posted 5 January 2018 Posted 5 January 2018 (edited) Heard yesterday that the club is still considering new areas of interest, including their initial interest in Loughborough/that side of Leicestershire and Forest Hill Golf Club (the latter location where the club paid an initial deposit (referring back to page 6) 'first-come, first-served'bssis if any final agreement is in place with the premises. @dynamark, have you got any latest considering you presumably know/see Lakki from FHGC? urban.spaceman Posted 5 January 2018 Posted 5 January 2018 Loughborough might be helpful for M1 access but as the site's right next to the M1 wouldn't the air pollution be a factor for maintaining world-class athleticism?

Richard Posted 5 January 2018 Posted 5 January 2018 I think Chelsea's is right next to the M25 in Cobham
dynamark Posted 8 January 2018 Posted 8 January 2018 Wymy -FHGC have assured the club members that the LCFC option has expired and the club if sold by Sparsis will be sold as a golf course. They have not been exactly explaining but the main reason is a covenant in the title which states that the land will be a golf course for I think it was 50 years from around 1993. I'm hoping to get back playing up there in a few weeks after new hip op. It was never a great option anyway due to the footpaths, woodland trust ,landscape. Must be much better options for the training set up. 1

May be more to do with the imminent tax evasion case than the covenant. whatever the reason it's good news for the members.
dynamark Posted 9 January 2018 Posted 9 January 2018 Dodged that one - but I was confident on the legal stuff. Its a good golf cub getting better every year . LCFC have a good set up at present must be better options.
Wymsey Posted 19 January 2018 Posted 19 January 2018 (edited) Heard that Park Hill Golf Club has unexpectedly closed and a former staff member there said there's talk of the new training ground being comstructed at the location.. http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/bride-fears-wedding-ruined-after-1080882 @dynamark, you may well be right now in believing that FHGC's location won't be used as Laki now denying anything is happening on this front (despite several pages back with him saying the club had made an initial deposit offer). dynamark Posted 19 January 2018 Posted 19 January 2018 Hi -FHGC is definitely off the legal stuff was set in stone( and I should know) Staggered that Park Hill has shut I knew the original landowner Phil Hardy and his course builders.Current owners (Mee family)are very very well off apart from the course but they are no messing business people and it may well be they have jumped into bed with LCFC.Membership there was always pretty strong but the course not always great.. Very hilly in places but its a big site probably 130 acres at least and some space to work with. Sounds more feasible for LCFC and I doubt the owners have just closed for financial reasons. See what develops. 1
