brucey Posted 25 January 2018 Posted 25 January 2018 If the covenant had been in place for a while, why didn't the club know about it before putting on a hefty deposit?
Wymsey Posted 25 January 2018 Posted 25 January 2018 8 minutes ago, dynamark said: Lads listen to this carefully .This is gospel The covenant that it would remain a golf club was naf all to do with Peter Soulsby or LCC.Man is a fool though trying to get credit. The land was sold in 1991 for £635 k including a group of old farm buildings .It was not sold off on the cheap it went out to the best bids through a specialist agent with planning in place already for the golf use The company that were successful instigated the inclusion of a covenant to say that it would be a golf course with public access to help their bid for the purchase. This was included in the subsequent transfer. It would not be unusual for a sell on type clause to be included say for residential development but LCC DID NOT put that in the covenant . merely stated that the land should be a golf course with public use and bear in mind LCC have recently closed western park for mucho cash development . Laki is either elated about the decision or quite annoyed FHGC isn't the place for the club - can imagine him reacting in the latter in terms of ££?..
dynamark Posted 25 January 2018 Posted 25 January 2018 Whmy I have time for Laki and Andrew they have really moved the place on and put a lot of effort in and I doubt they have lost money but I can understand their wish to move it -example Park Hill There is a finite limit on how much you can turnover/take from this type of business and that limits the selling price. Looks like he has given a piece to the Mercury but who knows why he would choose to.This is now a busy golf club but damage had been done off the back off this nonsense. Should have been ultra confidential from the off. Anyway Peterborough 1
dynamark Posted 25 January 2018 Posted 25 January 2018 Bruce - solicitors didn't look hard enough it was always there in print bits of land were sold off around 1995 but there was still a golf course- Maybe Rudkin was in charge 1
Filberts Treat Posted 25 January 2018 Posted 25 January 2018 Unrelated to any of the previous golf clubs mentioned but there’s one near Market Bosworth that’s been closed down. Surprised they’ve not looked at that site.
dynamark Posted 25 January 2018 Posted 25 January 2018 Names good FT-that's been sold on and again there are planning restrictions on that site which make it a definite no -leisure use etc. Last time I checked we are somehow 7th in the prem and training at Belvoir Drive so no need to worry. 1
Ted Maul Posted 26 January 2018 Posted 26 January 2018 Why are we obsessed with the new training ground being on a golf course? Corporate days?

davieG Posted 26 January 2018 Posted 26 January 2018 1 hour ago, Ted Maul said: Why are we obsessed with the new training ground being on a golf course? Corporate days? Probably because it's easier to get planning permission to change it's use to a training facility, covenants not withstanding than farmland. There'd presumably no grounds to deny for transport/pollution reasons' likewise if there's been a function facility there then that would also fitting in with a load of noisy footballers. Could be wrong they may just fancy keeping the golf course if the plot was big enough 1
norwichfox Posted 26 January 2018 Posted 26 January 2018 Couldn't we build a crazy golf course tucked away in a corner somewhere to comply with the covenant requirements, be interesting to have a model of Benny's leg hackling at your shins as you are about to take your shot, and a model of Huth's arm holding on to your golf bat as you are about to hit the puck....

The facility needs at least 15/20 pitches , then buildings , car parks etc . the amount of land needed to build this is a problem in itself . Where is that kind of space ? not an easy task for LCFC .

Not like we don't have grounds staff for it. Also could be a great point to sell the club to potential targets. I doubt any other club offers it.
dynamark Posted 27 January 2018 Posted 27 January 2018 DG is no doubt correct in that planning would be half way there and other services on site. Somewhere like Beedles Lake would be perfect(apart from the bit that floods)but Jelson own that and very likely to say no don't need the money thanks Any potential site is going to be top money maybe something old airfield flat land out of town -but again these sites have massive commercial value.Think Magna park or Caterpiller at Desford. We shall see .
Spudulike Posted 27 January 2018 Posted 27 January 2018 Don't know what the current status is at Glen Gorse Oadby

Popular Post Pascal Posted 30 January 2018 Popular Post Posted 30 January 2018 Wherever the new training ground ends up being, you can expect Claude Puel to have strong input in its set-up. He faced a similar situation as Lille's coach, as when he took over that team their new training facility was merely a project. Not only did their state-of-the-art "Domaine de Luchin" was finished before he left, but he had a lot of say in training facilities for the first team. He brought in some methods that were pretty unique at the time, like for example a 3,000 metre "Finnish track", a wood chip covered trail for jogging whose surface has the benefit of being easier on the joints. It was the first installation of this kind in France, and even today few clubs have one of them at their disposal. Before becoming a manager, Claude Puel was Monaco's fitness coach, and he is still very insistent on the physical state of this players. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised to see Leicester become a reference in that field just like Lille did in France during his tenure there. I'm quite curious to see what Puel will pop out of his sleeve this time... 9
SemperEadem Posted 30 January 2018 Posted 30 January 2018 Would be quite sad to see them leave Belvoir Drive. Lots of history at the place.
Wymsey Posted 30 January 2018 Posted 30 January 2018 (edited) What will Belvoir Drive be used for when the club eventually leave? It should continue to be used as a football or sports-related pitch area for the local co,monitor to access. Edited 30 January 2018 by Wymeswold fox

A local newspaper, last year, stated that they had 'strong interest' in the location and its quality of land and intended to try and push a deal for such a thing to happen..
