Voll Blau Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 It's not being paid according to this. Surely something the club can afford to do?

Izzy Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 I wouldn’t pay Ulloa anywhere near £7.05 per hour tbh
Kilworthfox Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 If no laws are broken, what's the issue? If the minimum wage is being paid, why target football clubs? Surely we should all be asking more important questions, like what's happened to the bankers, how have their regulations changed and been tightened, so that the nations tax money was used for good, and there is a good reason why that put everyone's standards of living down. But lets just look at Football?...

Ted Maul Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 It's a bit disproportionate because of the difference in where each club is located. Arsenal's £7 if disgusting, considering the size of the club and the fact that £7 barely buys you a pint & bag of crisps down there these days. In contrast, Liverpool's £7.05 will probably go a long way up there.
Guest MattP Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 If we base our club accounts in the Virgin Islands to avoid paying tax then I doubt providing a living wage is high on our list of priorities.
Jimothy Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 How old are the people being paid the rate of £7.05 an hour? That's the national minimum wage for 21 to 24 year olds, so we're doing nothing wrong. Living wage isn't law anyway, but doesn't start until 25.
Guest Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 It's simple. Footballers are "worth" thousands of times more than cleaners. An hour of their life is so much more important. We are a sick and sad society. but we happen to love football on this forum.
SheppyFox Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 Aslong as nothing illegal is being done then.. nobody will really care
baldeagle Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 Also you have to allow for location . Its cheaper to live in some areas than others
ThingsCouldGetMessi Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 The only club that should be disgraced by this in my opinion is Arsenal. They already have a high turnover and rob fans blind for a ticket. Now it also turns out they pay staff £7 an hour which doesn't get you much in London. I swear the only motivation in that club is sheer greed.
jammie82uk Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 Wonder if this includes the food kiosk staff on the concourses as most clubs are not responsible for their wages

I think the main difference is that millions of people don't pay to watch a cleaner (surgeon/teacher/soldier* insert any 'normal' job here) work. Nothing to do with importance.
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 Obviously they haven't tried to buy tickets or go in the club shop because there's no way those useless clowns deserve £7.05

The complaint is human beings working in one of the richest countries in the world getting £7 for an hour. How much is an hour of your life worth?

It is an absolute disgrace that clubs receiving so much money cannot/will not pay the people who work for them a decent wage. In fact it is morally bankrupt. Just think it would take someone on that wage at Man utd 20 years to earn what Pogba does in a week. It has got nothing to do with legality and everything to do with what's wrong with football. Though many would be agency employees all clubs could quite easily stipulate in their contracts the minimum wage they would accept being paid as part of the contract. I'm glad this has been highlighted and disappointed our club isn't doing more.

But your right we could do better. a rising tide should lift all Boats.
Rogstanley Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 Can't see what the problem is the If you want to argue that the minimum wage should be higher then fair enough but going on a witch hunt naming companies who pay the legal minimum wage is just a bit pathetic

I don't think it's pathetic, it's democracy. The people want a better reward for their hard work and they will forever argue this. Rich companies should be paying their employees more, simple as that. It's just the decent thing to do when your turnover is so high, it's better for all society.
Kopic Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 Cleaning staff at the stadium get £8.66 an hour regardless of age, most of the other people are brought in by Compass (catering, bar staff etc), can't think who is paid that low at the stadium.
RonnieTodger Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 That explains why the kiosk staff are so shit. It's a protest.

Why would anyone work for a small company in that case then?

Costs can be higher than revenue and therefore, costs shouldn't be increased. The correct analysis should be net profit versus low wages
