If you read what I said I did say it wasn’t down to him directly more the fact he was  totally ineffective which in its self  helped the opposition pile on the pressure as it was like playing with ten men and it was only a matter of time before we conceded . And your point about Ndidi being poor from the start of the season is incorrect if you remember  he started the season alongside James where he was ok . He wasn’t pulling up trees  I will  give you that but he was ok . And At the risk of repeating myself  people started to question his form and he looked tired once James got injured and King replaced him and our midfield just kept getting over ran which didn’t happen so much with James and Ndidi . Add to this we then suddenly start picking up results and look better in midfield once Iborra started playing and King was replaced  . No I’m not blaming him for all of poor games as there was other players on the pitch who were equally as poor  but there is certainly a pattern appearing . As for needing squad players I  understand that but I feel your squad players should be pushing to start and not being happy just to sit on the bench . When Drinky was here and he had a poor patch  he didn’t get dropped because even though his form Had dipped the back up was no better,  which in itself can breed complacency among players because if no ones breathing down their neck to get in the team they know they are okay if they form drops as their position in the team is safe . Oh and your point about being picked ahead of James, Mendy and  Amartey doesn’t really prove anything Mendy  and James were out injired for most of their seasons and Amartey not really a midfielder more a defender .

Claudio used Amartey as a midfielder so therefore he continues in the list, and So does James who had returned  (albeit unfit) and Inler was supoosed to be a 1st team player, King was still picked ahead of them.

Our upturn in form falls more coincidently with Shakey leaving than King being dropped. Iborra is also a player who has played at all levels of the game, so of course his experience is going to have more influence on a game than King, but if it were King alongside Iborra we'd see the best of Kingy, as Iborra would gift him the freedom to push on.

I am talking to death ears here anyway. You make valid points but still continue to ignore the required need for King in our squad. Therefore we will have to agree to disagree.

King's game time has been decreasing since we won the championship. He's been surpassed since then but has been on the bench more often than not. More so than Nacho, Musa, Ulloa, Benny, Slimani. Didnt do too badly against Madrid in the away leg last year.

Doubtful may of us here would have him in the first squad let alone the team but he has to be doing something right.

He's done it all with us. More comforting on the bench here than going to a complete lump of a club like Sunderland, Birmingham City, Hull etc.

In recent appearances  the best finisher at the club had failed to hit the target under little or no pressure. What else he can offer I don’t know. No team with any ambition of promotion or safety would shell out his wages for a player with so little to offer in terms of not influencing  games

Maybe they do want King to leave but would feel a big backlash occuring if they took that decision?

Wouldn't think so. A great admirer of King for what he's achieved but no matter what the opinions on any player we all want the best team on the pitch. Been a world of difference between King and Iborra and Silva not far away either.

The only backlash is when we lose a player to a club like Chelsea a la Kante and Drinkwater. We don't care too much if a bit-part player like Schlupp goes elsewhere but we get sour when a players go to a more lucrative club.

I can't believe some people,  he served the club for over 10 loyal years through good and bad times and he has scored some important goals for us at vital times,  West Ham 2015 springs to mind

That was a long time ago, we've progressed since then, he hasn't.

From whom? I don't personally know anyone who would be that upset about losing a player who will soon be 5th choice.

If Puel decides to sell him in January, I can imagine quite a few on here especially being sad but also quite/very annoyed if it happens. It just wouldn't surprise me if some over-reacted if it were to occur.

On here perhaps but I don't know anyone on here whereas other fans I do know aren't great admirer's of him and think he disappears.

They also don't see him as a legend.

Everyone I know does see him as a legend, must be a generational thing. Seems to me a lot of older fans get needlessly offended at King being described as such. It doesn't make those you considered club legends from previous eras any less so you know...

... personally I think it does.

To be fair, he has a Premier league Champions medal, so like the rest of them that do, he's automatically a legend.

On any other criteria he isn't for me.

I'd like to know how?

It's a bit like people claiming that player x is world class.

Not sure where the cut off is but I'm sure there can only be so many world class players in the world and a club can only have so many legends.

Honestly... why would he leave? hes literally won every league possible? Hes done it all... Let him just train and be a model pro in the dressing room keeping unity.. some times you still them sort of players around :)

This, people forget the affect players like Waz and Schwarzer have just by being around, galvanising the team, being a sounding board as part of a leadership group, setting examples in training and mentoring the youth. A club is more than a first 11. If he is happy, I hope he stays.

Well duh, anyone saying a bloke we had on loan is a legend is clearly misusing the term in the extreme. But someone who, in the modern era, has spent his entire career with the same club, will probably be the last person ever to achieve winning the top three divisions with the same club and has shown nothing but complete loyalty while contributing along the way? I can't think of another set of fans in the world who wouldn't deem a player who'd done that worthy of legend status.

When's your cut off, out of interest?

Yes i am sure the feelings of foxestalk forum users are the top priority of the club when buying and selling players.

there's a guy sits behind me who mumbles "they need to bring Andy on" throughout every game... he may be related... I dunno.  But yes there will be those who are unhappy...  but the club must be strong and move on.... and never be deflected from tough decisions... even if they have to sit though chanting from the king supporters... or  read tough posts on FT.

Myself - I would kjeep him.  We still have Birch.  Loyalty is a rare thing... and as longs as he doesnt have to start then whats the harm in indulging the king posse

I speak to his Mum sometimes at away games. She always says he wants to play football so has considered leaving. There's often Championship clubs & the Watfords and Burnleys of the world interested in him.

She always says how much he loves it here though. It's got to be a difficult decision. He'll take a pay cut to go somewhere else, but he'll get to finish his career playing week in week out. Whatever he does he'll always, always be a complete and utter legend to me. I always got him on the back of my shirt growing up and he's still one of my favourite players now.

I think that is the big decision he'll have to make. He either wants to make as much money as possible until he finishes his career (the only way I think he'll do that is by staying with us) or he wants to play first team football & most likely will have to take a pay cut to join another team & drop a division if he wants consistent first team football.

Whatever he decides to do I reckon once his playing days are up we'll see him back here in a coaching role with the youth teams.

He wouldn't have to take a pay cut

If he has 2 years remaining on 40k, and a new club in the championship offers him 20k - Leicester would likely make up the difference in a lump sum for those 2 years. Pretty common. Leicester would be saving themselves 20k a week for 2 years as well as probably a transfer fee for a player who won't play much.

He'll probably only see any loss in earnings if feels he could get another deal after this one - probably unlikely?
