Solid 5th/6th choice. Not too fussed if he stays or goes at this stage. Definitely a few others I'd want moving on before King.

Surprised he doesn't want to get out and play regular football being in his prime years. Would be interesting to see how he would do in a team that rated him as one of their better players. Would be good to see him in the championship banging the goals in again.

Well, he comes across as the model professional – always gives 100 per cent when called upon, but doesn't moan when he's not involved (and that is rather often).

Also, he seems to be part of Wales' plans even when he doesn't get a game – which is the only reason I could think of him considering leaving.

So no, I don't think he will leave. The word "legend" is bandied around too often, but he really is a club legend. Not because he's single-handedly won us anything, but because of his long service across three leagues.

Personally, I hope he stays until he retires. But if he does want to leave, to get regular games, I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one to wish him well and hope to give him some sort of send off.

The only reason I'd be ok with seeing King leave, is for him. He's got lots of football left to play, imo he'd be best at Championship level, and I don't think he's going to see much game time with us when Silva becomes eligible.

King is a City legend.

I think the fact that Puel has played Albrighton centrally and brought Choudry on instead of Kingy against Spurs speaks volumes.

He's been without a shadow of a doubt my favourite player over the last 10 years. My Gerrard, my Lampard and my Ryan Giggs all rolled in to one, but his time with US is done.

As Col said above he's still got so much football left to play and he'd be an asset to any other team he joined, but he's just been passed by with us unfortunately.

He brought Choudry on because he wants to bring youngsters on not because he thinks he a better player.

Football isn't like other businesses , so much of it is based on emotion and rightly so. We're not paying his wages, so what if he can't get a game? He's an integral part of the club, he should stay.

No reason he'll leave, he'll be on a decent wage here so anywhere else would almost certainly be a pay cut and he wouldn't be as appreciated elsewhere as he would be here. He's not good enough to be a regular starter and hasn't been for some time but he's worth keeping around as long as he's happy with a handful of appearances each season. He can still be an effective player for us if utilized properly. It's rare to find players with loyalty who are prepared to stick around regardless of whether they play or not.

To the OP.

**** OFF YOU ****.

Andy King is only leaving this club in a box. He's the next birch and you know it.

Oh dear !  Read the title.  Its a question.  Not slagging off, not wishing he was gone, just considering that HE may actually view things from  a career and playing point of view.  Nothing like a constructive debate and response.

I doubt he will leave... if he was going to do so he would have gone by now.  His loyalty is a rare thing these days.  He might not be a top top prem midfielder. .. but he had tirelessly done everything we have asked of him. He deserves a medal

Hes got THREE... not many others can say the same. Leicester Legend!!!

Constant threads about him going, every "Transfer Window Thread" has people wishing he'd go etc etc.

Don't get it.

Clearly well liked around the club.

Clearly a club legend.

Clearly in no rush to leave.

Clearly won't kick up a stink if he doesn't play.

Clearly competent enough to fill in here and there.

Why the need to get rid?

For me this is the big reason he has to stay. Everyone can agree he's no longer good enough to play week in week out, but he's proven to be more than capable of stepping up as and when he's needed. I can imagine if some of the other starters suddenly found themselves on the fringes of the first team they would kick up a massive fuss and demand either first team football or a transfer (See Gray, Ulloa, Slimani). That kind of attitute rubs off on the rest of the team.

Such a narrow view to think ponder him leaving just because he isn't first choice anymore. Our midfield has been so thin this season and he's a great squad player, not to mention a club legend. Easily good enough to come and do a job off the bench when needed. Especially if we go 3 in midfield when Silva comes in, we'll need him.

For someone with "no ambition" his trophy cabinet's fairly well stocked. Imagine thinking that leaving us to start 200 times for West Brom or Stoke would make him a more ambitious player.

Yeh he has to go, can see him at sunderland with his boy friend chris coleman

I don't know whether this is nasty, homophobic or just not even vaguely funny, or all three.

What is it with you fans always wanting to get rid of King?

Won League One

Won Championship

Won Premier League

All of that with the same club. He's the only player in the PL era to do that.

He's great in the dressing room, all the players like him and look up to him, and he's not as bad on the pitch as most posters here rant on.

Want to get rid of someone in the January transfer window? Get rid of this guy::ulloa:

Won league one yes

won the championship, yes but barely played.

Won the premier league, yes but barely played.

King has offered very little for a long time, and yes his loyalty is commendable, but let’s not get to carried away, I should imagine that loyalty comes at a price, and in the shape of the sort of money, nobody in their right mind would pay him, for what he offers the squad, and the amount of time he’s played since league one.

King won’t go anywhere because he has it cushy here, rarely does he play, gets paid exceptionally good money, has won things, and realistically the only teams that would want him are lower end championship, or top of league one, who are not going to pay him anywhere near his money now, and he would have to work more.

I have questioned his ambition in the past, if it was me, I would want to play every week, but that doesn’t seem to appeal to him, as he seems settled in his bit part role

I don't understand some of the stick Kingy gets on here. Yes we all know hes not our most talented midfielder now but hes been a loyal servant and hes great for the club off the pitch as much as anything. We have also never seen king play in a midfield 3. If we do move to playing 3 in the middle he will be a decent back up for ndidi, iborra and silva. He will always struggle against the top teams but I don't think hes any worse than some of the midfielders in the teams in the bottom half of the prem. Plus if hes happy just being on the bench and not playing much then that's fine. Like others have said, we need back ups and it's hard to convince players to come here to sit on the bench. I also agree that he deserves a testimonial

How many did he start, how many sub appearances, how many minutes?

Unless I slept through it, James drink water championship midfield pair.

Premier league win, drinkwater/ kante main midfield pair.

If you read what I put, barely played is right, I didn’t say he didn’t play, but didn’t have a big say on achieving either, he was what I said, a bit part player.

64% of his appearances in our premier  league winning season were as a sub .

No chance he is going anywhere. He knows what the situation is here and wouldn't have been expecting to be anything more than being a squad player. I was happy for him to be rewarded for his service with us and you need players like him and Ulloa that are happy to play a part whenever they are needed. Nobody else will ever pay him what we are paying him either.

Giving James, a second squad player in his position a long term contract didn't seem so clever though.
