Okazaki on the floor

I don’t think there is any player, or almost any thing, that brings 95% of this board together in such a positive way as Okazaki, and the entertainment (and confounding contribution) he brings with the unique Shinjitsu form of football.  All at once we get

 

- a player who radiates happiness to be a part of the side,

- a bushido display of graft and toughness,

- a great comedy act where we all get all the jokes,

- and often enough, our side flourishing on the pitch with him as a linchpin.

 

When he is rolling (figuratively or literally), there is a joy in the match and post-match threads that goes beyond our usual manic-depressive reaction to winning and losing.  Conversely, his flubs are more forgivable than anyone else’s.

 

The squad is finally starting to evolve past its need for Shinji and in the not-distant future, he’ll move on.  Blessed as we have been with genuine stars, who among us will not vividly -- and affectionately -- remember him for years to come?

 

Maybe he will continue to reside at the KP as some kind of Shinto spirit, which will produce wonder goals (and whiffs) that can never be fully explained.

What’s great to see as a fan is this year he has become a legitimate goal threat and not just a hard worker. Already his best return of any season thus far. 

 

Keep it up Shinji! I was really hoping he’d get himself a hat trick that would have been the icing on the cake.

Watching the highlights again, he was simply electric. Outstanding display!

 

I wonder if rotation might get the best out of him? Maybe he will play the full 90 every other game instead of playing 60 every game? Last night was the complete performance from him. Endless energy, played in his team mates, quality finishing. Loved his celebration when Maguire just picked him up and hugged him!!!!
