Doubt he was exactly on the breadline here to be fair.

 

Can't work out why he went there. He must have known game time would be at a premium. With them not doing so well this year I wouldn't be surprised to see a-list signings in Jan or the summer, pushing Drinkwater even further down the pecking order.

 

I thought it was probably to guarantee himself a spot on the plane to Russia, but he doesn't seem to care about representing his country (If the national team had any self respect, any player pulling out of squads without a very good reason months before the world cup would be told they're not going to the tournament).

 

Maybe this 'complex character' wanted to take himself out of the limelight while still earning good money and a somewhat anonymous role as a Chelsea squad player suited?

Absolute legend for us, don't begrudge him his move to a bigger club. That's modern football. 

 

He's not a Leicester lad yet he gave us many good years, fair play. 

 

Disappointed for him that it hasn't worked out yet, I do think it was an overly ambitious move and wasteful from Chelsea but that's not his fault. He backed himself as any pro would. 

 

Any Leicester fan taking pleasure in his misfortune is a bitter twisted tit that needs to get a life, frankly. 

 

Of course we miss him, we've had King and Amartey at centre mid this year for heaven sakes. 

 

Is he better than Iborra? Maybe not. They're different players. But he'd still clearly add an enormous amount of quality to us, as he did when he helped us win the Premier league.

iborras not fit to lace his boots if were being honest, anyone who argues otherwise is just being bitter. with full fitness and the right frame of mind drinks is one of the best midfielders in the league, end of.

Agree and  I lean and can sympathise with the train of thought...

Missing Kante was bigger than I thought, and for an older experienced man,

never believed after so long, that even now , he would keep popping into my mind,

on certain matchdays. before I had that with Gibson, and Weller, only.

DDrinkwater does not come anywhere near that...One of our own PL legends, yes.

I honestly believe we could of Partly balanced Kante departure,by playing 3 out n out midfielders,

and even with Ndidi, we should for example have  those 3 true midfielders

has our gameday base Iborra, Silva, Ndidi.    With then  James/King/Albrighton, playing that

cover/ slot in role.  

I still find Kingy a decent midfielder, but only when asked to be the ATM even holding role, but never

DFM.  Hes been poorly used specially last  season.James before his injury was more flexable.

 

Comparing Leagues and present status and Quality  level Of players, is no measuring palette,

German ,Dutch, Italian, and French leagues have in the past and present, one could say, proved the contrary.

I am not bitter, and I defended his right to move, and before, Where many before the title season 

was crying out for him to be dropped him,

 

I vervently posted he is better than what  many posters claimed.

No matter my positive ideas over him are, Iborra was and is a class act, who like Drinky will need more gametime,

to show his true qualities, for their new teams. So far in their few games Iborra has shown already he slots in well,

he has had also had bad moments. Drinky has not yet done anything, to show his new fans what he has in his locker,

in his so far little gametime...To be honest, goodluck to him hes taking on a big gamble, with nothing but proven

real World class players around him...The big question, will be..'can he fully recover well enough from that niggling

low-level annoying injury' to play at the needed high protain level.  Iborra will not have that pressure.

I don’t think he really wanted out ...   he’d said how he loved it here ..   I think he saw an opportunity that really flattered him and grabbed it quickly...   I’m not 100% sure he will be happy now the dust has settled ...   and Chelsea will keep improving their squad and he will move even further down the pecking order.   THE annoying thing for me is how we did it ...  out of all the possible outcomes ...   we get Silva he misses out, we get Silva he then moves on ...    we manage to completely fook it up.  Yep, you are right we need to move on but I still get these brain flashes of him AND Silve playing in our midfield ...    both with smiles on their faces.    Gigantic fook up I’m afraid.

I think some people seem to forget the absolute dogs abuse he got from a lot of fans in his first year or so here.... 

 

Championship & Premiership winning season he was absolutely top class for us. 

 

Was sad sad to see him go, but thats football, players come and go and if he didn't want to be here anymore than I don't want him here.

Anybody see on twitter (and now reported in mercury) that a Leicester fan met him after Chelsea's game at Arsenal last night and mentioned LCFC and Drinkwater said "I miss Leicester"....

 

I don't really like how he left us but I can't dislike any of that title winning team. All heroes, forever.

I was a bit bitter when he left, and Kante but they’re legends to me. All of them.

It’s a shame Drinky has gone from a playing week In week out at City putting in decent performances to featuring sperodically for Chelsea.

 

Obviosly there is the money incentive as Chelsea probably doubled his wages, maybe he was under the impression that he would be having more of an influence on the starting 11 at Chelsea than he is currently having.

 

Now with Barkley also signing, at the end of this season if things carry on the way they are, would Drinky be tempted with a move away from London?
