It will be best for him to stay with us until the end of the season and play every week. I'm a huge fan of his, but he's playing every week in a team that are currently 8th in the premier league and that is his level at the moment. I do believe he could go on and play for one of the top six, just not yet.

Maguire is brilliant, a breathe of fresh air.. if half of our players had his composure on the ball we'd be a great team. Makes the odd mistake and will learn from each one invaluably. Only a year older than John Stones and honestly wouldn't even sell him for 50m. Don't think he'll want leave in January anyways so keep him, help him grow as I personally think he could be something special. technically you either can play proper football or you can't, but I think defensive ability is all from experience.

Too immobile?

did you not see him galloping up the wing couple games back!?!

Ormandroyd would of been proud.

exactly! his performance against man city was enough to show he isn't immobile! pep even had a word in his ear after for good measure

Maguire is a Pep sort of player. The other week when Kompany got injured, he brought on Jesus for him. Pep doesn't give a fuch about defence. He wants players to play his brand of football, confident in possession and good on the ball.

We are not a club that needs to sell nor is it desirable to sell our better players on if we wish to be playing in Europe, Maguire would only go if he wants out and considering he has only been here half a season I doubt he would go unless silly money was thrown at him and us.

Please don't sell. He makes some mistakes but he's immense. Going back to Huth toepoking it row z when trying to make a simple pass would be depressing. He has like 4 assists as well.

I like Maguire but we've conceded goals that have been his fault. Morgan gets pulled up a lot on here yet everyone seems to gloss over Maguire. He's not good enough for a side pushing for titles and European trophies.

John Stones is dogshit.

Or let me rephrase that, he was dogshit when Man City signed him for £50m, that is the point i'm making, at the point of Man City signing him (Stones) Harry Maguire is better.

Therefore i'll say it again £50m, shove it, especially when you consider inflation within the transfer market in the last few years.

He's not though. Stones is one of many Man City players that have looked so much better under Pep.

We signed Maguire for £15mill from a relegated side, and he's done nothing to suggest that price should be inflated.

(edit: Looking back £15mill is cheap so I retract this as he is worth more now. So stop quoting me).

It doesn't matter anyway because Maguire will still be a Leicester player at the end of the season.

Too immobile for a Pep and he's poor one on one, Martinez would be a better fit and significantly cheaper. Good news for us.

To be fair Stones was worse than Maguire is now at EFC. Pep got hold of him and turned him into a top defender. Maguire is less error prone than Stones was. I actually think Maguire has a higher ceiling than Stones. Pep could turn Maguire into world class.

Hoping this is just speculation about interest from Man City but Pep could well be an admirer.

The difficulty in holding on to him would be that Man City would be be prepared to throw in 'silly money' if they do want him, like they do for all their transfer targets.

Compare Stones at Everton and Maguire now. Maguire is miles better at their respective stages. Now Stones is better after spending 18 months with Pep. If Maguire had Pep as a coach he would be better than Stones. I truly believe that.

People forget Stones looked like a pub defender at Eveton. Truly woeful. Almost weekly mistakes by him. Maguire makes errors but nowhere near as Stones at Everton.

Oh I take that point definitely. Stones at Everton was very inconsistent. But I think people are getting way ahead of themselves here - not that it matters because he won't be going anywhere.

There's no way this is true. Surely he wouldn't go and risk getting match time to be on the plane for the World Cup?

As for those who are less than convinced by him - think we have been watching a different guy!

Despite calling Stones dogshit, that is the point I was making, unfortunately I don't think Fox92 read what I rephrased.

Fair play - didn't see that rephased bit but now I've read it I get what you're saying.

In Maguire's favour he is confident on the ball which is now a desired trait for central defenders and he's still a baby at 24 for that position as centre halves mature with age.

Defensively though he doesn't dominate like Huth and Morgan did. I remember watching the likes of Elliott, Walsh and Taggart and anything thrown into our box you knew would be dealt with. Maguire doesn't have that aura about him yet despite being 6, 4".

I'm not saying he's not good enough for us by any stretch but £50m would have to be seriously considered. You would think there is still a lot more to come from Maguire once he learns to make better decisions which will come with age and experience.
