A pundit saying it would be great doesnt mean its happening.

Of course one thing I will say tho is that england regulars usually tend to end up at the big english clubs due to tapping up etc.

Within the first few games maguire had for us I realised his quality and said on another forum we would do well to keep him for 2 seasons. When he does leave tho it wont be during a january window.

I would hope that Leicester will be on their way to being a big English club in two years & Maguire a big part of it. If Leicester haven't progressed then I would not blame Maguire for wanting to move on.

From Sky transfer news

A MOVE WORTH MAKING?

Harry Maguire has been linked with a move to Manchester City, and former West Ham and Fulham defender Tony Gale thinks it would be a good move.

"I think that Harry Maguire has come on a bundle since he has gone to Leicester from Hull," said Gale on Sky Sports News.

"If he goes to Man City, England are sorted out for a very long time. Pep [Guardiola] will show him how to play that kind of football. Gareth Southgate wants England to play that kind of football.

"What a great move for English football that would be."

Sick of hearing from pundits that pep is some sort of saviour for football. Look at the money hes spent and the players he has. If Maguire went there he'd be another john stones - will defend less but looks great on the ball. His actual defending will go downhill.

Plus the changes Pep would make to Maguire would take time. The pundits seem to forget it took Stones time to adapt. And he seemed to get worse before he got better. Not to mention he has ''come on a bundle'' with us already.

I disagree there, I think John Stones as a defender has improved under Pep. He was utter shite before, now he's competent at that side of the game.

I don't know stones imo still looks iffy defensively. Watching the game against bristol City he looked average. I just wonder if he'd get the plaudits if he was foreign and with that price tag. He can do know wrong being english and with pep if you listen to the media.

Maguire rumours are 'good thing'

Puel is not bothered by reports of Manchester City interest (which have since been quashed).

On reports linking Man City with a £50m move for Harry Maguire.

CP: "It is a good thing. It shows we have good players. Harry is a young player, he has made good progress. He needs to continue this work with us." #LCFC

harry is a very good player but not a very good defender, at least not yet (yeah, there's a difference).

he has the tools but the mental lapses are worrying. "rough" and "unrefined" to put it gently.

on the highest level a small mistake can cost you the game (a la the salah goal). his offensive contribution is elite for a CB but his positioning is suspect to say the least.

we don't a have a clear cut replacment for him so it's a no from me. i'm sure we can find a gem in ligue 1 but until then, we should keep.

Name me a centre back in the league that doesn’t have defensive lapses

i couldn't name you one in all the history of football!

it's about frequency, falling asleep in the midst of a crucial moment will cost you big.

it's like basketball, if you mess up once in a while defensivly, you will get a pass. dozing off and being cought out of position many times means that you're an avrage to below avrage defender

I don’t think he does it that often tbh. I know he’s not impressed quite a lot of our fan base but I’m a big fan of his

i'm too, but i'm gonna call a spade a spade.

think he's a smidge overrated by our fans (like other players on this team). a ball playing CB no matter the defensive mistakes seems like the flavour of the month.

don't get me wrong, i was calling for a player like him for the longest, i think he's our best defender by a mile but i have my concerns.
i think to move forward we need him but his offensive prowess shouldn't cover for his mishaps. after all, he's still a defender.

i can live with a mistimed jump for the ball or a bad clearance, those things can be fixed but, losing your sense of positioning is really hard to fix. you even have it or you don't. bad sence of positioning can be made serviceable, serviceable to above average, above average to good but that's about it. only great defenders have it.

think harry can become a world class all-around CB but can not be elite "defensively ".

and for the people who are going overboard with the criticism, harry without his mishaps is a world class defender. a blessing in disguise! the complete package doesn't play for leicester. kante was the closest to a finished product we had in the last few years(i say this because i think he can't become any better at playmaking, he is an elite DM) and he went in the blink of an eye.

Messi could play for us and some of our fans would moan about his work rate

How very true !!

Can't understand why people say that he's not much of a defender and say that he is popular just because he can play out of defence like it's nothing.

First of all, I think he is a very good defender who will improve, but his ability on the ball is huge.  These type of players are like hens teeth and we've got a top class one.

There is a reason the likes of Bobby Moore, Beckenbauer etc will be remembered long after the likes of Tony Adams are forgotten.

And before you say it, no I'm not comparing our Hagrid to Beckenbauer.  I'm just making a point about ball playing centre halves.

All the pundits said Stones moving to City would make him much better and whilst he's looked decent this season, surely you would have trusted a former Dutch international and Barcelona centre back to coach him than Guardiola, common sense surely?? Some pundits don't have a clue

Not sure who it was but one of the commentators on Saturday went on about how great it would be for English football for Maguire to go to Man City and be coached by Pep.
