GIFT OF MAG

Manchester City want Harry Maguire from Leicester and are ready to make incredible £50m bid

English centre-back has been extremely impressive for Foxes following summer move from Hull

HARRY MAGUIRE has played his way on to Pep Guardiola’s wanted list at Manchester City.

Leicester’s classy centre-half could be on his way to the Etihad in this month’s window after emerging as a new option in City’s chase for another defender.

Guardiola has been impressed by Maguire’s displays since joining from Hull for £17million in the summer and could offer around £50m for him.

City’s chief even gave the England defender, 24, a hug in admiration after the Carabao Cup quarter-final last month, which Manchester City won 4-3 on penalties.

Guardiola has been linked with West Brom skipper Jonny Evans, Real Sociedad’s Inigo Martinez and Lyon star Mouctar Diakhaby.

He ideally wants a centre-half who is eligible to play in the Champions League, with City facing Basel in the last 16 next month.

The Foxes will fight to keep him, but Maguire would jump at the chance of a move to the big time after his remarkable rise for club and country.

City are currently pricing up their targets. They bid £24m for Evans, 30, in the summer but will have to go higher.

Martinez, 26, is a fixed fee at £29m and Lyon would want £40m for Diakhaby, 21.

Maguire would be the most expensive option, but City were happy to splash out £47.5m for John Stones in August 2016

£50m?

Nah, shove it.

They paid £50m for Stones, he's better than Stones + inflation within the transfer market since then.

Too immobile for a Pep and he's poor one on one, Martinez would be a better fit and significantly cheaper. Good news for us.

I'd sell at that price.

A bit flaky defensively and probably overrated because he's good on the ball.

Not too shabby defensively compared to most 24-year-old defenders.

Oh Fuch it. Let’s sell everyone that is worth keeping at bucket shop prices and join Florist and the Sheep back in Championship as early as possible.

Bobby huth is back soon - I'm sure puel would be delighted to have him and Wes together for our more possession based style .......

.....................................otherwise known as hoof it and run. I was hoping we were moving away from that.

He isn't better than Stones.

I like Maguire but we've conceded goals that have been his fault. Morgan gets pulled up a lot on here yet everyone seems to gloss over Maguire. He's not good enough for a side pushing for titles and European trophies.

He’s far from being good enough for that level yet.

I agree, cracking talent, but still rough round the edges.

I swear whenever one of our best players gets linked with another club we put them down and highlight their weaknesses as if it will put the buyers off :D

Always pushes his hair across and out of his eyes when waiting for a corner ..   ffs who would buy a player that did that !!    C’mon Pep get real !

The values have shifted from genuine worth regarding ability to what he is worth to the clubs. Van Dyk and Coutinho are typical examples of this. Teams who have money will have to pay the value of the player to the club. It’s getting to the stage where you can’t compare players’ merits. With all that in mind Van Dyk & Maguire are on a par with their respective situations. We are not big 6 which adds a few quid as they can’t be seen by their fans to be bullied so I would think 60-65 would make sense, the guy is an England international after all. It would be gutting to see him leave but we are 10 pts off safety with half a season left so we should be ok and with Puel’s contact book we could build quite effectively.

Big Harry is class, he’d be under far less pressure if he was at Man City so defensively his stats would improve. He’s potentially at least as good as Stones. He won’t leave this early into his LCFC career. The article is clearly ??
