It sure he's quite at that level yet although they barely have to defend there now anyway. In the current market we should easily be able to demand £60 mil or more for a young, English (&a sexy ?) centre half.

Would definitely keep him. There's a top centre half there.

Even for that much money. Knowing our recruitment team we'd use the money to buy some dead wood championship centre half.

You guys clearly know nothing about football and defenders in particular.

No player is perfect and a defender gets exposed with every small mistake unlike a midfielder or attacker.

small mistake :D

he always has goal leading errors, every game.yes,he has ability of being very good defender and in very good defender i mean world class, but right now,he is not even close to that form.

Cost us 15 million in the summer.

More than triple our money six months later?

I'd sell him for £50m.

We don't need the money Geoff. Also, we shouldn't be selling our best players.

I would not sell Maguire for any money, how do you replace him ?

Harry is the kind of player you build a team around like John Terry at Chelsea.

For Me ....Untouchable !!

Maguire is sheer class and destined to be a top England defender for the next decade, yet you put him down all the time.

It's more important we keep him than Mahrez.

Thanks for enlightening me as a mere mortal. I’ll stop posting on the forum because I know absolutely nothing about football especially when there’s people on here as knowledgeable as you. Sorry for wasting your time you bin liner.

To be fair Stones was worse than Maguire is now at EFC. Pep got hold of him and turned him into a top defender. Maguire is less error prone than Stones was. I actually think Maguire has a higher ceiling than Stones. Pep could turn Maguire into world class.

Stones is a better passer and more mobile, I agree Maguire is less error prone than Stones was but I think Maguire is overrated by our fans.

Too immobile?

did you not see him galloping up the wing couple games back!?!

Ormandroyd would of been proud.

He couldn’t play in a high line under Pep. It’s different running forwards on or off the ball to having to deal with runners in behind.

Replied to you on twitter, but unless he's said he wants to go, then we don't sell him. We simply cannot replace a player of his potential or calibre, especially in Jan window.

£50m sounds a lot of money, but we don't need it, and his value is worth much much more to us.

Maguire is a long way from the finished product but looks like he has all the tools to be very very good. The way the market is going he will be worth a 100 mill this time next year.

Keep Him  !!!

I'd sell him if there offering 50m. Hes a decent english centre half nothing more nothing less. Then try and sign ben gibson.

Sell him and sign an inferior player. Makes sense

Sell him  for £50mill and his replacement will cost £25 - £35mill minimum even from a lower or foreign league.

How do you know hes an inferior player? He could be just as good if not better.

The fact that he’s not been snapped up by a prem club speaks volumes. Why risk it?

From what I’ve seen Maguire is much better than Gibson, and Keane for that matter

It's a tricky one for me. I really like Maguire but maybe just maybe the way we play suits a more no-nonsense defender than a ball playing one. For all his undoubted qualities, I see frailties, especially not being strong enough, he can get bullied a bit too often for my liking. I don't want us to sell our better players but I think Maguire can be replaced "more easily" than, say, Mahrez or Vardy.

In terms of a club selling their "better" players... Liverpool have flogged Suarez and Coutinho. Spurs flogged Bale. ManU flogged Ronaldo. Everton flogged Lukaku. It happens. Whether we have the tools to replace wisely is, of course, another matter.

Compare Stones at Evertonois and Maguire now. Maguire is miles better at their respective stages. Now Stones is better after spending 18 months with Pep. If Maguire had Pep as a coach he would be better than Stones. I truly believe that.

I agreed with your previous post on this Issue, and I thought for a young lad Stones took some OTT shxt.

I actually think, that at this moment Maguire is the better of the 3 young wanna-bes for England,

Keane, Stones...and Maguire.  I still havent seen enough of Gomez, but he looks like the other 3, good

Forward going, ball playing CBs. If I was the England manager...These 4 would be the ones I would be showcasing

for WC confirmed places. Add Cahill the thought that Dier (Utility)could fill in if necessary, only Keane, if at all

would miss out. Jaggi, Jones, Smalling, time gone or too injury prone..

All 4, must learn now from   their own coaching staff, to be more descisive and not have blackouts of forethought

When making, those driving runs into the oppo's half, plus be encouraged and Descisive into having a pop at goal.

Imho, we..England  have great potential, with cover, along the whole Backline.I would love Harry become a favourite

Mainstay For England, under Foxes colours... For Harry st George and E N G L A N D...and Leicester..:cool::scarf:

These clubs sold for different reasons & not all of them used the money wisely. If a player wants to leave it is very hard to hold on to them in this modern world but the trick is to be able to replace them. We saw what happened when Everton sold their main striker & then didn't replace. If we sold Maguire tomorrow would we have a replacement available to keep us in the top half. If not, 50 million quid does us no good.

All the players you mention that were sold abroad, helped ensure that spain did better in Champions League than English clubs... Lakaku being sold messed Everton up. Southampton have an entire business model of selling their best players - they could go down. We could have sold Vardy and Mahrez in January the year we won the league, and hoped we hung on for 4th. The fact is, if we are going to challenge the top 6 we need to add to our best players... And, why shouldn't we try and challenge the top 6? Someone has to, or we just end up with a boring league! We need to tell Mahrez that we are going to sign some exciting talent and we are expanding the ground. Stay here and be (even more of) a legend!
