"Depressed"?  Look in the Depression thread under the General Chat section to see what depression is really about.

Again, without saying Mahrez is actually depressed, @Grebfromgrebland has a valid point.

Just because you're successful doesn't mean you can't be depressed.

The whole "depressed" thing is taken from the most rubbish of statements from an unverified source anyway.

Don't know what all the fuss is about ! Let him go for 30mil and get on with it.

I have better things to do like doing up an neglected Porsche I picked up for 3000 quid.

Cleaned and tuned the engine, new full interior, gearbox etc.

2 enjoyable but laborious years it took, and as soon as the rust is sorted on the bodywork and had a re-spray gonna sell it to a guy who says it's worth 3010 quid.

Or stick it in the garage and look at it once in a while.

Exactly like Gareth from The Office...  lol

His absence is due to being on the piste, then?

No, it's that Conte trying to lock him away in a Chelski basement until summer.

This thread is on a slippery slope!

It's certainly slaloming all over the place. As a rather luge character, I feel responsible. I don't want to skate over that.

At this point I feel like Mahrez is hurting himself more than any party in this affair.

If you don’t include a reference to snow you can get out.

well said, shen.

who really knows if he's depressed or not? no one knows him on a personal level he might as well be struggling (and not just because of this transfer fiasco)

just because you're successful and have money doesn't mean you aren't strugling. just because you are smiling doesn't mean you ain't  sad! just look at robin williams for crying out loud

It was always obvious to me he was miserable

He's obviously not depressed. Depression is a condition which takes time to take hold of you- Mahrez's 'source' said it about half an hour after we rejected Man City's bid. He's just got the arse and is being a mopey twat.

People need to forget about the depressed stuff. It was clearly just a throw away remark by a 'source' (not Riyad I assume) who's English is probably not their first language in reference to his disappointment/anger at not moving. Just a wrong choice of words.

Yes, that credible "source" is surely worth giving more attention to

It's amazing how literally people are interpreting this.

It's not liked "depressed" is a word that is exclusively used to describe diagnosed clinical depression.

The hang ups are about as frustrating as this whole Mahrez absence.

Taking the depression debate out if the equation, the point remains- he's just got the arse and is being a mopey twat.

Personally speaking & having thought about this long & hard ive come to the conclusion that I don’t want to see him pull on our jersey again!

His memories will live forever & over time I’ll prob feel different but for now I’m done with him.

Without doubt he’s one of the best, if not THE best players I’ve seen pull on the shirt but for me his recent actions are a total disgrace, hugely disrespectful but most of all an absolute insult to the badge, club, owners & especially us fans.

Everyone of us has supported him every step of his journey to becoming one of the Worlds elite players and after what he’s helped us achieve not one person connected to LCFC would begrudge him a move to a bigger club.

He has seemed to forget all of that though, totally disregarded the meaning of respect or loyalty and instead thrown his toys out of the pram claiming he’s depressed despite the fact he’s on a contract of 100k+ a week. A completely selfish act! Perhaps if he wanted to leave he shouldn’t of signed his contract without a release clause!

For me his actions are unforgivable & a kick in the teeth which he should be made to learn from. Players that want to be here & develop should be given the game time.

He’s made his bed so he should be made to lie in it until he gets the move he so desperately wants in the summer!

I agree with nearly all your sentiments and no-one could really argue if he was told that he won't play for us again after his actions so far.

But personally I don't like to bare grudges so I would like to us try to reintegrate him into the squad. We have all made errors of judgement in life and I'm sure we would all like to be given the opportunity to make up for the mistakes we have made so that we can be forgiven. He should be punished to the maximum limit that we are allowed (we have to do this otherwise we leave ourselves open to it happening again with him or other players) and then tell him that he needs to return to training, work hard and apologise. When he has shown the right attitude he can then be considered for first team selection again.

This way both us and him have a chance of coming out of the current state of affairs with a better solution. He performs well for us and helps us to win as many matches as possible (FA Cup please! :scarf:) until the end of the season. Therefore his transfer value will remain high which benefits us and he gets the move he craves in the summer. Even though his legacy will have been somewhat tainted, he can leave on much better terms than the sorry mess we have right now. Win/win for all concerned.

Yours sincerely,

Henry Kissinger

Hindsight is a wonderful thing ain't it?

The Owners expected him to do what he did last summer and just buckle down and do his job but it seems that this shite of a grenade just exploded in their faces.

There is something about old money vs new money. Both have money of course but the former has reputation on his side. Which pretty much means, just because you are wealthy doesn't mean you are influential.

Riyad and the owners got into this sh*t slinging competition and no one is getting out clean. In the end of the day, riyad is a desirable asset while the club was struggling to get high level players dispite being champions and having CL football. The owners need good publicity not this radioactive mess!

Never take things personally when you are doing business, this isn't the mafia or the yakuza where everything is about your ego. sometimes you have to dink and dunk to reach the next round.

Are the owners sure about wanting to play a game of texas hold'em to see who's the big stack bully against sheikh mansour?

man city can just comeback in less than two years when kelechi is worth 80+ million and just buy him back on the cheap to send a message?
The owners sent a message and i applaud them for that. They stood by their guns but they have to be prepared for the future. Liverpool overcharged for coutinho and overpaid for van dijk. This is like taking money from your right pocket and putting it on your left. Go and try to buy thorgan hazard. They will just say "95 million For mahrez? give us atleast 60"
