In my humble view, Ndidi is still too raw. He is good in terms of running around and getting back on defence, but he turns the ball over too much. His passing is not accurate and even if he completes them his teammates would often have to slow down or track back to get them. At other times, he just overkicks or underkicks. His choice of passing is often suspect and he passes back when he should be looking forward. In other words, he interrupts play too much. It is not very obvious with him but look closely.

Also, he cannot dribble or control the ball well enough to allow first time passes. For example, you would often see that he would lose the ball after receiving a pass because his first touch would result in the ball five feet away or even over his head instead of trapping the ball. He really needs more practice.

To be honest, it is a bit frustrating watching him at the moment (not just in the last game but last few months).

He has vision though and possesses good physical attributes and he will become a good player in the future.

But to me, we clearly need to replace him with Iborra in midfield. Iborra is a proven midfielder with compusure, passing, positioning and smart. I think most would agree that he played really well when he was starting previously so it is baffling why he cannot get a minute in the league recently.

Thoughts?

A Silva/Iborra pivot would be abysmal defensively in the league as they don’t cover ground well enough. N’Didi has to play.

Problem with Ndidi is his passing is too erratic. He looks awkward on the ball. I really want him to be a Steven Nzonzi level midfielder but he needs to drastically improve his passing.

N'Didi is tremendous at tackling and interceptions but his ball retention and passing is often horrific, that first touch yesterday that ended above his head has to go if he wants to play top level.

Shame we can't combine the qualities of the two.

N’Didi is the ball winner.

His passing is good but the last two games he’s not been in great passing form.

I’d like to see a 3-5-2 with N’Didi, Silva & James in there.

A Silva and Iborra partnership in the league would get overrun. Neither are that great defensively, which is why James came on because Swansea were starting to take control.

Imo in the summer we need another ball winner/box to box to challenge for Ndidi’s spot. Both James/Iborra should be back up for Silva as neither have the qualities we require to replace Ndidi.

Iborra looked proper peeved when the players left yesterday, I suspect he’ll want to leave if he doesn’t play soon. That said there’s no way I’d drop NDidi as he’s one of our best players easily, I can’t really fault the team selection yesterday either so I’m not sure where that leaves Iborra.

Ndidi v his youth !!!! Bad miss yesterday and costly (easier to score , 2-0 game over ) . Yes he can not pass as like the others and needs composure . He will be better with experience . And a mature finished Ndidi (few years yet) will be better than the finished article Iborra .

No debate here (my POV)... Wilf is the first name on the midfield team sheet

Who partners him and how many partner him is the question

Iborra is a wonderful player and I’ve still no clue why he got dropped a few games back.... Silva looks like a class act and James is making encouraging progress...  this is called ‘A nice problem to have’

I really can’t sperate Silva from Iborra and wouldn’t object to seeing them in a three with Wilf

I'm as critical about Wilf as anyone, but he has to play. For 20 mins in the first half he was awesome yesterday.

Id like to see Iborra involved more but Puel doesnt seem to fancy him.

N’didi purely for the fact his interceptions and ability to win the ball back are fantastic. His passing is dogshit but Iborra’s recently has been questionable.

Can I also just say its nice to see some balanced views on Ndidi for once.

And its nice to not be talking about Mahrez.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Ndidi every time for me, Iborra has been too inconsistent Ndidi is still improving since being chucked in at the deep end and hads a great attitude to go with his good attributes. As other posters have said, he still has work to do. Maybe the answer would be to play a midfield 3.

You seem to have lost some of your abrasive-ness recently!

He's only 21 so he has every chance of being as good as or probably better than Nzonzi . For his age he has done brilliantly well also bearing in mind he plays every game including the cup games (apart from when he was suspended) I'd be worried for us if he got injured.

Ndidi is proving to be a better defender than Kanté and he has a threat in the opposition's box too. He's going to be another player that'll be difficult to hold onto. Better than Yaya Touré in his prime. I like Iborra he has class but he makes as many errors as Ndidi even though he has so much more experience and he doesn't have the pace or tenacity of Ndidi.

Having said that With Mahrez gone I'd consider dropping Albrighton to the bench and playing Ndidi, Iborra, Silva and Diabaté in midfield with Iheanacho as a link to Vardy.

I salivate at the possibilities post Mahrez.
