'What time do you call this, Riyad?'

No matter how frustrated he is, I'll bet that made Mahrez smile. Top work from JV, and nice to see Albrighton weighing in today.

Immensely talented footballer wants to play in Champions League shocker! I don't think the RM situation has ever happened before in football history, so I'm not surprised everyone is so angry. ;)

Anyone who remembers Joe Mattock will realise how far we have come.

was the draw also a troll at riyad.?

Dunno, were the whole team tapping their wrists and looking at them for 90 mins. I didn't notice that, but then my stream was bloody rubbish.

Have an Everton supporting work colleague and I remember him saying at the time in his awful scouse accent, "Jesus I have been going to Goodison for some 30 years and that Junior Lewis is the worst player I have ever seen play on that pitch"  How on earth is he a professional footballer,

Junior Lewis in central midfield was like watching a hybrid of Wes Morgan's composure on the ball under pressure and and Peter Crouch's bambi on ice ungainliness, taking the worst of both players without any of their good attributes. A really, really bad version of an already shit player in Carlton Palmer

Other way round I think. He definitely played during Taylor's spell at Filbert Street.

I have a weird memory of him being on the same pitch as Roberto Mancini at one time...

Erm Joe Mattock wasn't bad was he? I remember him being a very decent young left back who we had to sell to the baggies against our wishes (as fans). Don't get me wrong as a person he's a scumbag.

Maybe it was more appropriate to the after-match thread but finding  the answer I wanted would have meant trawling through pages of posts.

I, for one, being clueless, didn't get the 'watch' celebration so this revelation that Vardy was taking a poke (albeit light-heartedly) at Mahrez makes this thread informative - for me, anyway. I'm not sure though that Mahrez himself might 'get' it and, if he did, think it was as funny as Vardy did.

The thread seems to be serving us (in spite of the completely unlinked Junior Lewis comments) in clarifying the players' attitude to this. I saw the Albrighton comment in the gossip section of Red Button - that the players aren't angry. I can't quite believe that no-one isn't irritated or brassed-off with his antics but maybe they understand him after knowing him for however long.

I'm not sure what that indicates about their cohesiveness and team spirit - whether he is generally liked as an individual and his aspirations are understood or they're aware that football is a constant stream of players moving - that movement mostly generated by the decisions of clubs rather than players. They're all aware that clubs will dispense with their services however loyal or committed they are, so maybe, at the fundamental level, they have a lot of empathy for him - the older ones anyway.

I still don't get the pointing at a watch and riyad mahrez transfer bit, but i think the mahrez going awol has more to do with what he's been told to do by his team mates. As a guess, transfer deadline does his head in because he doesn't know what to do and he gets freaked out by it. He's probably been told to bugger off to bed and come back when it's all over, at least that's what i'd say to a work colleague who's under too much pressure.

His ego outweighed his talent. One of many young players who lose their way and amount to very little sadly.

I'm fairly certain that they're somehow pissed off. We had momentum, were playing well and things started to fall in place. A little push and Europe was in sight. Then everything went south at the moment where everybody thought it would be a quiet window. As a pro and when you see what was a at stake, I don't think you can not be frustrated and a bit angry.

On the other side, I never saw Mahrez as a guy who would lead a revolt or cause a rift in the dressing room. He strikes me as shy and introverted player, only looking to play football the way he enjoys it (he's not going to another club for the money) and constantly searching for acknowledgement and I don't think he's ever going to change. He'll always have this bit of diva attitude that makes him what he is and, as you said, the other players surely know and have learned to deal with. As long as he turns up as soon as possible to the training (means this week), it won't be long until the players will forgive him. With the fans it is a whole other matter.

Pretty sad that it came to this and he still has to be sold this summer.

The reason the OP mentioned Joe Mattock is because he was a want away player.

To my knowledge Junior Lewis wasn't, no matter how bad he was.

**** Mahrez.

I'd rather not have this attitude either.

Mahrez has been superb for us. He wants to a bigger club, at the end of the day if he wants to win more then okay just move him on (for the correct price of course), but now he is our player he needs to be sat down and told 'head down and work hard for your summer move' (or something like that).

He is one of our best players, our most creative player, we need him. Going into a game against a better side on Saturday we need our best players.

Players come and go. There's no need for the abuse Mahrez gets directed at him just because how he's supposedly gone on with all this. He's been badly advised to I imagine. But all that team allowed us to realise our dreams by winning the league, Mahrez was a major force in that, something we all thought we'd never see.
