Not having much luck on the old pint front here. In Birmingham and I’m in The Wolf (great for nice beers) and I’ve ordered one that’s highly rated on Untapped called Pineapple Jalapeño. 🔥

How was your pineapple jalapeño? 😬

Got some Monkish DIPAs in the other day. Mega bucket list brewery for me, so was excited to try them. Had two at the weekend - they were great, but I think a lot of the American breweries specialising in IPAs (Treehouse, Other Half, EQ etc.) are a bit overhyped on Untappd. Maybe Americans just rate hoppy beers higher than Europeans? UK breweries are just as good IMO, with Cloudwater and Track standing out in 2021. Looking forward to visiting their taprooms (they're directly opposite each other!) next time I'm in Manchester.

Spicy and weird, wouldn’t recommend.

I’m looking for a Christmas brew to put on. I was looking for something a bit different to the usual orange peel/brandy/Xmas pudding type flavours, but will probably give the pineapple and jalapeño a miss!

Open to suggestions if anyone has had a particularly good Xmas ale.

Not sure what to suggest to be honest, if you want something different and non Christmassy flavours Vault City’s beers are always an expensive treat.

Anyone on here ever done the Brampton Mile in Chesterfield?

No, but I work on a stretch so have been to a couple of the pubs that are still going.

Not sure how many have gone from it now but some have been restored.

I just drank my first Tree House IPA (Julius) kindly brought back by a friend.  Very good indeed, but not life-changing IMO.

I think beer hype is based as much on scarcity as anything.

Tree House don't distribute, so you have to go there (on the right day) or trade some other rarity to get it.  Other IPA-centric houses (3 Floyds, Maine, etc) were darlings when you had to beg or travel to get them.  When production and distribution expanded, the hipsters moved on to the next unattainable object.

Granted that "the chase" is part of the joy for some folks.

I agree. I had a few OH a few months back and not worth the extra money to cover shipping when you can get equally good from Cloudwater and Track etc. Have you seen Cloudwater have brewed a new TIPA in collaboration with Monkish and Trillium? It’s called Insert Hip Hop Reference There and is meant to be class. Luckily I’ve got 4 cans due to Cloudwater sending out my order again due to damaged (but not totally ****ed) cans.

Yeah I’ve heard about that one. You got 4 cans of it then? Quality man. We get a decent amount of Cloudwater over here, but their TIPAs are usually around 100 DKK which even for Denmark is expensive. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for that one though. Could be a good one for Xmas Eve along with a barrel aged stout.

Had a few OH as well. They’re lovely but if I didn’t know what I was drinking I would’ve confidently guessed one of the UK breweries. Great to see so many decent beers being brewed on this side of the Atlantic. If you’re into stouts, check out Nerdbrewings barrel series. Delicious all of them! And their recipes are open source as well which is pretty cool.

I've had a pint of Spitfire

I like this. They do a golden ale as well I think which is okay but not as much as the Kentish.

I must admit that this thread baffles me somewhat. I wouldn't know what constitutes a 'good' beer. I've had lots of artisan/craft beers over the years, all over the world but a pint of John Smiths Smooth and I'm sorted.  Sorry for being a heathen.

When you go into a boozer, take that first sip, and it tastes like chemicals. That's not a good beer. Also, any beer in any football stadium ever. Also, Carling.

But the thread is called 'Your last pint', so whether good or bad. I guess the purpose is to review beers drank.

You have not been to decent grounds then! However, especially in the UK, most grounds serve utter cr4p. New Spurs ground being an exception.

Yeah really not sure how this thread can be baffling, I tried to make the title as self explanatory as I could.

:D Sorry, I didn't make myself clear at all here. I'm just intrigued about what constitutes a good beer. I know a badly poured pint or an 'off' pint when I taste it but honestly after a couple of pints I struggle to tell the dfference.

I'm the same with wine tbf, my old man will drink wine like it's an art form and rips me when I use the same glass for white after drinking a red...

The thread title is not baffling, it's my inability to post in the correct place obviously.

It’s all subjective with regards to what constitutes good beer. All about personal taste, but it’s interesting to see just how many different options there are out there nowadays. I think this thread is good to see people  recommending smaller breweries or beers that others may not know about and getting more to try them.

I went not long after it opened and was OK. Maybe the novelty has worn off...

Braybrooke lager club is enjoyable, not sure I’ll always persist with it because it’s £35 a month but the guest beers are interesting.

There was a craft Czech one in there in the most recent delivery which was unreal
