Sambrooke Junction in the Lamb, Bloomsbury. Expensive but very beautiful pub.

Haha - I did a day’s work at Sambrooks brewery a couple of years ago making a Christmas beer.

Top brewery and really good guys. Junction is a great beer 👍

When you go into a boozer, take that first sip, and it tastes like chemicals. That's not a good beer. Also, any beer in any football stadium ever. Also, Carling.

When did it become so fashionable to sneer over a pint of Carling? Granted not something I buy to drink myself but there have been times on a hot summers walk ending in a pub I've had a pint of Carling bought for me and enjoyed it. A lot of nicer, richer lagers out there definitely but I don't think Carling is that bad.

Fosters on the other hand....

Carling is fine if its from a decent pub that looks after their lines. The carling served at the cricket club i play football for compared to the carling at the local spoons taste completely different. The cricket club look after their beer where i imagine the spoons really dont!

I think Carling gets a bad rep as it is usually the go to beer for a lot of rubbish pubs, gig venues, nightclubs etc.

Safe to say I did have a can of it once and it was vile. It certainly didn't convert me. Fosters, Carlsberg (all the imported stuff in the UK that is) are horrible too. The Carslberg export is fine. Otherwise I stick to either smaller brewery lagers or the European ones (not watered down UK versions).

I know lots of people who enjoy a Carling but for me it's horrible.

Each to their own but I find it horrid, like gone off bleach. However I do enjoy the other nondescript 4% lagers such a fosters and carlsberg when I’m thirsty

It's not fashionable, it's just shit beer.

No two ways about it, it's poor quality, poor tasting, mass produced crap.

To be fair the majority of mass produced canned lagers are rank.

Yh, it has to be good to be enjoyable in a can. If I have to drink out of cans (e.g. at festival campsites) I tend to choose cider over beer.

Yeah remember going to Reading and having the choice of warm cans of larger or warm cider and went with the cider.

Remember going to Leeds festival in the mid/late 2000s and buying 24 cans of carling for £25 from the festival shop. Still think about that as one of the worst financial decisions I’ve ever made

1.76 pints at Fullers pubs tonight

Leicester bizarrely avoids a lot of pub chains. There's no Marstons, Fullers or Greene King

Yeah don't think Fullers go north of Northamptonshire, which is a shame because as big breweries go they're one of the better ones.

Grand Union is a Marstons I think.

The two crap ones on the old cattle market are Greene King but yeah they are outside the city centre.

Forgot about that, went in once and it was wank.

Had anyone heard of Brewser? It launched this week and looks a very cool idea. Essentially it is a monthly beer subscription box that you can cancel at anytime. The difference is you choose the brewery that you want each month and they send you a box from whichever you choose. Seems a great way to try beers from new breweries and they have some great ones involved and loads of smaller local ones (Braybrooke are on there). Each box is £38, I’ll prob try a few.
