Why is everyone falling for this? That article this morning had no quotes or anything to substantiate their claims that Maguire ‘believes’ he will be at Man Utd. It’s all just agent talk - remember there is a contract negotiation ongoing.

Harry has a 4 year contract. So Rudders should send a simply worded letter to Mourinho.

Dear Jose,

Regarding your interest in Harry Maguire.

Fcuk off !

Rudders if you do cast your eye over FT by any chance, always happy to help.

I can see us going into the new season with Morgan and Evans and no Mahrez replacement.

Can’t imagine Maguire would start against  Man U anyway. So it will be Morgan and Evans at the back for that game.

He's almost guaranteed to score against Man United at Old Trafford on the opening day and they'll immediately offer an obscene amount for him..

they can crack on, but they will be making an early purchase on a January sale. Window shuts the day before the match

Genuinely didn't know that the transfer window final day has been changed, thanks - apologies.

Thought it'd be the 'usual' 31st August date that been known for a while in the game.

Whilst I want to keep Harry Maguire at the club I still think there are positives in this.

Before the World Cup a bid of around £35m wouldn’t have sounded unrealistic. Now after a handful of games against average opposition we can double the fee.

We ought to insist on £70m+ and accept nothing less. There is no need to sell and, if Maguire is keen to go, he should play for his move over the course of the coming season.

Having already sold Mahrez in this window we need to make a statement that we are trying to get our club to the next level and not to become another Southampton.

I'm not convinced Jose Moanio has got that much more money to spend this summer … be amazed

if he's got 60-70 million to splash out on a centre back that is still not totally proven at the highest level.

Might have to sell first eg Martial , but there's not much time left until the window closes.

Any player we sign that shows the potential to play for a club like Man Utd is going to leave. That’s just the way it is. This sort of thing really doesn’t even bother me anymore because it’s not surprising.

He might not leave this summer but if he carries on putting in the performances it will definitely be next.

Just the the way it is when your not at the top of the food chain. I mean the only club who doesn’t have to worry about it is Real/Barca etc.

Here we go....

So there's a version of this quoting the Mirror saying McGuire is ready to 'turn down his club's 100,000 a week contract offer'.  But I don't see it here.

It's all well and good saying that we'd sell if any one made a silly money offer but the fact is by keeping on doing this we are heading one way.  Relegation.  We can't keep flogging our best players and expect to stay afloat in this league.  It's alright having 60 million in the bank from Mahrez and maybe the same amount again if Harry goes but it means sod all if we can't attract players good enough to come here to replace them.  This is where we constantly mess up.  Quality goes out, has beens and gambles come in.  It's only going to end in tears if we carry on this way.  We are rapidly turning in to Southampton if we keep letting our best players go.

Every club outside the top six eventually sell their best players if they're elite standard.

Chris Wheeler from the Mail made up the statement about Maguire "expecting to leave Leicester" yesterday evening, and now basically every journo has just taken it and run with it. It'd be funnier if it wasn't so desperate.

Correct - Maguire’s agent knows we ain’t selling fifteen days before the window closes. It’s all a play for a new contract

The thing is that whenever a player is linked to united because of their extremely large fan base a lot of fake quotes and articles arise.

I wouldn't worry about this one.

The earlier Mirror article was literally 'The Mail says this'
