Such a clever signing. Well in City and well in Rudders.

Pereira - Evans - Maguire - Chilwell is a top defence at this level.

As long as Chilwell can improve, otherwise he will be a weak link.

Fuchs is more than capable to add some healthy competition though.

Very happy with that back four and hopefully last season was a huge learning curve for Chilwell

"It is understood the fee, contained in a relegation clause in former Manchester United defender Evans' contract, is payable in two instalments of £1.75m."

wow what a bargain... could be the signing of the summer!

Excellent work MC - remind me who we are linked with who is playing in Russia and therefore needs to be sorted quickly  ????

Ziyech or Jahanbakhsh. Or both, ideally.

Plus Thorgan Hazard, but that interest has cooled down and the player fancies a transfer to a Spanish side.

Wes Morgans long goodbye has officially started, will he even be here come mid August? will he join Dawson at CB in the forest OAP dream team.

I imagine he will stay and see out his contract due to how much he is being paid. He is still likely to get some game time, although personally I'd prefer we sign another CB, perhaps younger with big potential, and have them as our 3rd choice and then try Amartey as 4th choice.

Only way I can see him going, is if we agree to pay big part of his wages, especially if he were to join a championship club.

So the release clause is £3m but we're gonna pay two instalments of £1.75m?

Why not just pay what the release clause is i.e. £3m?

This is a good start to the transfer window. The club have thankfully recognised some of our weaknesses and have acted upon it. Fingers crossed that we keep strengthening before we lose Mahrez!

Let’s be clear - activating the release clause isnt the trick here, it’s convincing the player to come and paying him enough

I don't envisage us having any problems convincing him to come. Wages won't be a problem. It's convincing the agent to drop his fee...

Good back-up for Wes for when he decides he does not want to play in a certain game.

the longer we hold onto money in the bank it is gaining interest therefore over 2 seasons the interest would probably pay for the 2nd instalment.

im not saying that is the case but would make sense from a business point of view why teams pay in instalments.

I read it as - That is how the release clause is structured i.e when written months ago. Not how we necessarily want to do it. :dunno:

No credit to Puel?

I know he helped bring Pereira - and he deserves credit for that - but I thought the club (specifically Rudkin) organised transfers?

It's reasonable to assume Puel is calling the shots on who he wants though.
