I think that Man. City have deliberately held this deal back, in order to reduce his fee, knowing that we will be desperate to find a replacement. Thus the fee reduces, They have got us by the short and curlies.

Chelsea demand 70m for Willian

Yep, we have been well and truly had. Only supposed big clubs are allowed to sell their best players for what they are actually worth and refuse to sell for anything less. You can't even suggest we do the same on here without getting bashed by the section of Leicester fans who act as though we are a little League One club.

I think it just shows how arrogant the fookers are ..   hope that somehow it all backfires on them.

IF he’s given a fair crack of the whip at city (big, big If) then he could become one of the worlds best wingers. Top 5

He was given more than a fair crack of the whip at city, now he's f**cking off to Manchester.

We are the winner here no matter the fee.

£400K into a £60 Million plus player.

Few great years service which has produced our best ever results that shocked the world.

I guess the Club have somebody already lined up and when the Payment for Mahrez is completed will shall finalize the new recruit.

Great business, still not over surely Mahrez will be playing each week, its going to be tough for him.

Bon Voyage Riyad!

I'll be disappointed if we don't get more than the figure quoted.

Also I'd be suprised if we get a big name in to replace him, I'd heard earlier this year they were after younger players by and large this summer and they'd look at a number 10 (Maddison) and a winger.

60m is not great but not the disaster some are making out. It's not easy when there's no bidding war to drive up the price.

For what it's worth I think he'll do really well for Man City. Better players around him, more space to do his thing. I think he'll excel.

It'll be interesting because we'll see how good he really is when he leaves. I love the guy but I can't see Pep putting up with the occasional non-performances he put in last season. He'll have to refine his game a little though, he can't be quite as selfish (not necessarily a bad thing) there as he was here.

Mahrez is only worth want another team is prepared to pay.

Clearly their was no bidding war from any rivals, its Man City only take it or leave it deal.

Its swings in roundabouts, £3 Million for Evans saved us a complete fortune.

Take the money and run, if Riyad is not a instant success he will be booted out fairly sharpish, its a big gamble.

We shall see how good Mahrez really is over the next 12 month!

This is a problem for me. Why can't it be "Mahrez is worth whatever we ask for"? Like at Chelsea, Liverpool and the rest of them, even Southampton are doing it now, why can't we?

We have been well and truly had. I thought our owners were businessmen but looking at the deal here proves they are not football people which we know, they are being misled again by a DOF who basically hasn't got a clue. Yet Rudkin seems to come out of everything smelling of roses the bloke is a twat and a fraud you watch him now go and pay 50 million for Patrick Roberts

Because it's not that simple.

Van Dijk was 18 months into a 6 year contract. Also, Man City and Chelsea were interested. Liverpool had already tried to tap him up in the summer and so to beat the competition they pulled out all the stops. Southampton got very lucky.

It's not a great deal but people are not idiots for not thinking it's a total disaster because it isn't.

From the sound of things (Alan Nixon, Percy) it might effectively be £45m + Roberts (£15m) for Mahrez.

That’s a poor deal, paying £15m for Roberts when Elyounoussi could be got for £18m is a head scratcher.

Plus if Roberts comes, will they go for another winger?

That better be bollocks. That is a shite deal if that's true.

Problem is he has kicked up a massive stink over the past few seasons, its clear to see he wants out and will do anything to achieve it.

Surely this makes things easier for Man City as they can afford to sit back and watch & wait, like they have done.

No bidding war which is a massive shame! Mahrez is a good player but I still would not count him as world class.

Its a good deal for a player which is unpredictable on the pitch and terrible behaviour off it!

I mean this is 60% payment towards our new training ground or stadium expansion.

If this turned out to be true I'd be all for throwing our director of football back on the fire again.

All of his good will gained for our incoming deals would be ****ing shattered.

I ain't Rudkin's biggest fan, tbh. I even photoshopped his face onto a dartboard, not that long ago.

Then we should've refused to sell for less than around 85M in my opinion. He's still got two years left on his contract so Mahrez could've gone one of two ways. Either play out of his skin all season to start a bidding war next summer when going into his final year (we'd have got more than 60m then), or spit his dummy out and hardly play all season, putting off all potential suitors in the process. It would be a gamble, but Premier League clubs can afford to make a gamble or two like this I reckon, Riyad Mahrez cannot.

Haven’t the owners had any say in the sale?

Surely it’s not Rudkin’s decision

But then his value massively depreciates either way because his contract is running down? Also, there would be no bidding war for a player with 12 months left on his deal. The only bidding war would be in wage offers to Mahrez once he becomes free to talk to other clubs. We'd get Jack shit.

Good to get some sense every now and then .....
